The language is gentle yet never weak, skilfully employing natural imagery (rain, bridges, dawn) to carry political and human rights concerns, lending emotional warmth and immediacy to grand themes. Its poetic strength lies in restraint, empathy, and moral lucidity: it avoids sloganeering while consistently pointing toward action and responsibility, revealing the intellectual depth and humanistic commitment of a woman poet who is also a legal professional.(By Christine Chen)

本该攀向耀目的高处;

LAST HOPE

Humans will always be humans
repeating the same wrong choices.
Walking on the same path, blind and deaf,
never hearing far-off voices.
In the depths we fall, instead of reaching dazzling heights,
always in the dark, missing our radiant lights.
But this is me, my planet, my choice,
and yes, this is my way to hear my voice!
Until last man standing
we need to rejoice!
In Tesla's name and his legacy
a few of us proudly stand.
Only we can transform our future
guided by his hand.

SAILING IN THE DESERT SEA

At the end of the world
and our existing
I would board the ship of infinity
and sail through the sea of dead souls
who beg forgiveness for their heinous torments.
I'd also finish my drink
and know that I deserve to be here.
This glory ship has a special guest on board
because I spent my entire life on the rough seas,
and this is my reward.
Shiva is bringing dessert to me
and I enjoy it,
knowing that I left my life without any repentance.
I would sing my favourite song
and wait for the land of heaven to be anchored.

Editorials:

These two poems of Jelena Sarić Cvetković

display a strong existential and spiritual-epic quality. Last Hope begins with the fatalistic recognition of humanity’s repeated errors, yet it does not sink into nihilism. Instead, by invoking “Tesla” as a symbol of reason and idealism, it affirms an ethical stance in which a conscious minority assumes responsibility for the future, marked by a lucid yet solitary heroic awareness. Sailing in the Desert Sea moves further into mythic and metaphysical territory, treating death as fulfillment rather than an end, and weaving together religion, judgment, and self-reconciliation. Overall, the language is direct yet rich in symbolic tension, intellectually sharp, and reflective of a scholar-poet’s profound meditation on civilization, belief, and ultimate destiny.(by Christine Chen)
