史蒂文·西尼尔·伊拉维巴布亚新几内亚的诗人、作家，同时也是国民党成员。他拥有英国东安格利亚大学发展经济学硕士学位，拥有超过30年的工作经验，曾在巴布亚新几内亚政府、联合国、世界银行、亚洲开发银行和澳大利亚政府任职。目前，他担任巴布亚新几内亚一位部长的高级顾问。作为一名热情的诗人，他管理着拥有超过8000名成员的“PNG诗歌”脸书页面，已持续运营10年。

Steven-Senior Ilave, Papua New Guinea poets, writers, a National Party member with a Master’s in Development Economics from the University of East Anglia, UK. with 30+ years’ experience with the PNG Government, UN, World Bank, ADB, and Australian Government, he is a senior advise of PNG minister. As a passionate poet, he manage the PNG Poetry Facebook page with over 8,000 members for the past 10 years.

帕加山传奇

起舞于不同的旋律
肢体与思想合拍如一
手指敲击着同一和弦
动感的音乐仿佛来自未知的宇宙
情绪驱动动作
舞蹈只为争取更好的机会
惊人的交响
伴随着节奏与丰富的韵律
恐惧与破碎的回音
被肆意欢庆的声音所取代
噩梦与惶恐的梦境
换成了充满希望的旋律

已被对幸福新世界的渴望所替代
我看见年幼的脚步在起舞
我看见天赋之手绘出画面
我听见创意的脑海奏出音乐

The PAGA SAGA

They danced to another tune
Limbs and minds in one accord
Fingers striking common chords
Moving music emanating from unknown spheres
Motions charged by emotions
Dances for better chances
Amazing symphony
Chancing their hand with rhythms &
Rhymes aplenty
Echoes of fearful broken reverberations
Swapped for sounds of brazen celebrations
Nightmares and fearful dreams
Exchanged for melodies of hope
Melancholy cries from the nights of weeping
Replaced by hopeful cries of a new world of bliss
I see sights of young feet dancing
I see Pictures from talented fingers
I hear Music from creative minds
I hear young fearless voices
Harnessed for collective dreams for
A fairer deal
I notice powerful youthful energy
Singing, dancing, painting, drawing, writing for new beginnings?
Or maybe just adhoc eerie stirrings in the wind beyond them and beyond PAGA Hill

喧嚣之外……

我看见红、黑与金——
那公平的色彩
在高空飘扬
我看见跳跃的小脚——
裸露的四肢
在地上舞动
我听见希望之歌
歌声热情洋溢
无处不在
我站立着，怔住了……

望向那孤单的红、黑与金之旗
望向那五颗跃动的星辰

望向那些批评者的回声

Beyond the hype…

I see red black and gold
Colours fair
Fly up there
I see small dancing feet
Limbs bare
Move down here
I hear songs of hope
Sung with much flair;
Every where
I stand stunned...

I look
Beyond the lone red black and gold
Beyond the five dancing stars
Beyond the patriotism on display
Beyond the songs of hundreds of children
Beyond the dashed-hopes of thousands of school leavers
Beyond the hype of many faceless Facebook warriors
Beyond the politicians' rhetoric
Beyond the voices of their many critics
I sit speechless...

I offer a prayer of thanks to God that I am alive, and can still feel, in this beautiful country I call home today...

白日梦

当我们与领袖们抗争时
树木正不断倒下
海岸线不断后退
年轻的母亲不断死去
年迈的父亲不断旁观
小女孩不断困惑
小男孩不断追问——
于漏水的教室里
于没有教学的学校中
而我们的领袖们依旧在空谈

Together, these poems form a complete expressive arc—from the germination of hope to the shattering of illusions and finally to transcendence and reflection.The PAGA SAGA is the spark of hope, a passionate release of youth, art, and collective energy; Pipe Dreams represents the peak of anger, a harsh warning against systemic illusions; and Beyond the hype… serves as a contemplative epilogue—a personal prayer and tender awareness beyond the noise. Together, they construct a multidimensional portrait of modern PNG: full of inspiring hope, ruthless realities, and an indomitable light of the human spirit.
Stylistically, The PAGA SAGA is lyrical, rhythmically vibrant with a spoken-word quality. Its closing question adds philosophical depth—are these ideals real, or merely ad hoc eerie stirrings in the wind? Beyond the hype… takes a more introspective approach, using simple language and restrained emotion, building layered feelings through “I see / I hear / I look,” culminating in a quiet gratitude that moves the reader deeply. Pipe Dreams carries strong political satire; its repetitive structure intensifies the critical rhythm, with sharp and chilling language that conveys a sense of oppression. Its critique of hollow national development slogans is powerful and unflinching.
As a senior advisor, economist, and public intellectual of PNG, the author’s poetic voice transcends professional boundaries to embody the conscience of the nation. He does not write praise or grandiose anthems but fulfils these missions through poetry:
1. To record truth and resist forgetting
2. To awaken the public and challenge numbness
3. To build hope and nurture awakening
