崔颖：Brief Biography

Dr. Ying Cui received her B.E. in Electronic and Information Engineering from Xi’an Jiao Tong University, China, in 2007 and her Ph.D. in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Hong Kong, in 2011. She was a Visiting Assistant in Research in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Yale University, USA from January 2011 to July 2011, and a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Macquarie University, Australia from March 2012 to June 2012. She was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University, USA from June 2012 to June 2013, and a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA from July 2013 to December 2014. Since January 2015, she has been a tenure-track associate professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. Her current research interests include convex and non-convex optimization, stochastic optimization, cache-enabled wireless networks, future Internet architecture, mobile edge computing, delay-sensitive cross-layer control and network coding. She has published 41 papers in top IEEE journals and 45 papers in leading IEEE conferences. She received Best Paper Award at IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC) 2015. She was selected to the Thousand Talents Plan for Young Professionals of China in 2013. She is currently an editor for the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and China Communications. She is also a reviewer for several IEEE journals and conferences. She served as a Poster/Demo Co-Chair of ACM Conference on Information-Centric Networking (ICN) in 2018, and a Technical Program Committee (TPC) Member for many IEEE conferences. She was recognized as an Exemplary Reviewer of IEEE Transactions on Communications in 2016 and 2017.

崔颖博士，2007年于西安交通大学电子与信息工程学院获得工学学士学位，2011年毕业于香港科技大学电子与计算机工程系，获得博士学位（Ph.D.）。2011年1月至2011年7月，在美国耶鲁大学电气工程系任研究助理。2012年3月至2012年6月，在澳大利亚麦考瑞大学电子工程系做访问学者。2012年6月至2013年6月，在美国东北大学电气与计算机工程系担任博士后研究员。2013年7月至2014年12月，在美国麻省理工学院（MIT）电气工程和计算机科学系担任博士后研究员。2015年1月至今，在上海交通大学电子信息与电气工程学院任特别研究员（长聘教轨副教授）。目前的研究方向包括无线缓存网络、移动边缘计算、多媒体传输、未来互联网体系结构、延迟敏感的跨层控制和网络编码等。已在通信领域国际顶级期刊上发表论文41篇（均为SCI索引），在通信领域国际著名会议上发表论文45篇（均为EI收录）。2013年入选国家第五批“青年****”，2015年获通信领域国际著名会议IEEE ICC 最佳论文奖，2016年和2017年获得IEEE Trans. Commun.模范审稿人称号，目前担任IEEE Trans. Wireless Commun.和Chinacom的编委。

主讲致远荣誉计划课程《通信与信息系统凸优化理论》

2018年11月12日晚，受教务办安排，有幸参加了一次崔颖老师的授课听课（督导）活动。

我刚开始接到通知，心里想，这样一门纯数学的课（凸优化问题），由一个专业教师，尤其是一个美女青年教师讲，不知道课堂是怎样的？

因为有一个其他的会议耽误了一下，稍微迟到了一点。进教室一看，近100人的教室几乎坐满（可以叫座无虚席），足见崔老师的这门课还是很有吸引力的！

今天是学校、学院的联合督导听课活动。杨新教授（校督导）、王嘉教授（院系学科督导）和院系教务办的负责人也都在场。

今天主要讲近似和拟合（approximation and fitting）。崔老师首先介绍了问题的定义，然后，给出了各种可能应用情况的详细解释，包括：近似、估计、几何、设计。接着，又举了一些范例，如：最小二乘近似，切比雪夫或最小最大近似，绝对残差和近似，最后，讲到惩罚问题。并用直方图表达了各种近似的物理意义。

还讲了最小范数问题、规一化近似和鲁棒性问题。

崔老师讲课，收放自如，时而讲解投影，时而粉笔板书，并不时抛出一些问题引发同学互动。

很快，一节课就结束了。课间，督导们还和崔老师进行了热情的交流。比如，杨督导建议，在做一些应用举例方面，能介绍一些信息论的先辈以及在这一领域得到重要应用的论文给同学们，会有更大的收益。
