Welcome to Dr. X Robotics Workshop! Hello, everyone! Thank you for your patience and all your surpport to our new adventure. We are opening soon! Opening: Saturday, March 12, 2016 Address: #10 - 44 East Beaver Creek Rd, Richmond Hill, ON, L4B 1G8 Schedule: Saturday and Sunday at 1pm and 3pm Programs: Robotics fundamental, Robotics advanced and team based projects Web site: http://www.drxworkshop.com Registration: http://goo.gl/forms/DSxkn8s91G Here, we'd like to take this opportunity to introduce a few robot friends to you and your kids. You will meet them in person when we open, but now take a quick peek! NAO and his "girlfriend" Naomi from TFS. They are the most popular and cute humanoid robots in the world at the moment. Various Lego robots, the best entry level tools for kids. FLL (First Lego League) competition, for those enthusiastic, dedicated, hard working and determined youngsters With creative designs, Lego pieces can be constructed and programmed to achieve amazing functions. Let your imagination go wild, make it happen! This is another cute little robot, all assembled from basic pieces, good for someone who is handy and patient. Once completed, it's so entertaining that kids will laugh all the time! Besides all the fun playful robots kids love, we also have a few 'serious' robots for more advanced and mature students to explore and experince the real robotics industry. Nick named 'Tangy', this is a health care robot developed by Dr. Xie for the University of Toronto. You will see its image on the mural at the new Centre for Engineering construction site. The one on the right is used for security and rescue missions. 3D printing is also a hot emerging field that can help advance and reform many industries. Below is a partial real life sized human arm constructed using 3D printed parts. The process is quite complicated and requires advanced knowledge and skill, good for mature, serious, enthusiastic learners. Now, technology is advancing so fast that many new tools can be used to help kids' learning and inspire their creativity. As parents, we'd like to provide them with a nurturing environment, open their eyes, teach them critical thinking and analytical skills, improve their problem solving capability and encourage their team work. We also want to leverage this platform to meet more friends with the same interests and vision, learn together, have fun together and grow together. Dr. Xie's Bio Dr. Haipeng Xie, PhD of Electric Engineering from the University of Western Ontario; adjunct professor of U of T Engineering. He has been working on research and development in robotics field since 2000. He also proudly participated the Canadarm project for Canada Space Agency.
