<p class="ql-block">你是人间的四月天</p><p class="ql-block">——一句爱的赞颂</p><p class="ql-block">You Are the April Paradise on Earth</p><p class="ql-block">——An Ode to My Love</p><p class="ql-block"> By Lin Huiyin(林徽因作） </p><p class="ql-block"> Tr. by Xie Shilin（谢诗琳译）</p> <h3>我说你是人间的四月天；<br></h3><div>笑响点亮了四面风；轻灵</div><div>在春的光艳中交舞着变。</div><div>I mean you are on earth the April paradise;</div><div>Your giggling startled winds all around;lightly</div><div>Dancing with the shining of the Spring sights and sounds.</div> <h3>你是四月早天里的云烟，<br></h3><div>黄昏吹着风的软，星子在</div><div>无意中闪，细雨点洒在花前。</div><div>You are the mist in the early April morning,</div><div>The gentleness of breeze at dusk,the stars</div><div>Twinkling unconsciously,and the fine rains on the petals sprinkling.</div> <h3><br></h3><div>那轻，那娉婷你是，鲜妍</div><div>百花的冠冕你戴着，你是</div><div>天真，庄严，你是夜夜的月圆。</div><div>Gentle and graceful you are,beautifully</div><div>The crown of hundreds of flowers you are wearing,you are</div><div>Innocent and stately,you are full moon nightly.</div><div><br></div> <h3>雪化后那片鹅黄，你象；新鲜<br></h3><div>初放芽的绿，你是；柔嫩喜悦</div><div>水光浮动着你梦期待中白莲。</div><div>The light yellow grasses after the snow melting,you are like;the shining</div><div>Green of the newly sprouted buds,you are;with tender delight</div><div>The white lotus is expected in your dream floating.</div> <h3>你是一树一树的花开，是燕</h3><div>在梁间呢喃，——你是爱，是暖，</div><div>是希望，你是人间的四月天！</div><div>You are the flowers on the trees,the swallows'</div><div>Chirping in the nest,——you are the love,the warmth,</div><div>The hope,you are on earth the April paradise!</div> <p> 我喜欢林徽因先生的作品《你是人间的四月天》，于是试着把它译为英语，献给我的朋友们，并在此发表原作与译文以纪念共和国国徽的设计者之一林徽因先生!</p> <p>译后小记：</p><p> 中国现代诗英译，我主张尽量直译，并实现“达意、传神”之目的。</p><p> 我很喜欢林徽因的《你是人间的四月天》这首诗。这首诗的魅力和优秀并不仅仅在于意境的优美和内容的纯净，还在于形式的纯熟和语言的华美。在形式上，诗歌采用新月诗派的诗美原则：讲求格律的和谐、语言的雕塑美和音律的乐感。这首诗可以说是这一原则的完美体现，词语的跳跃和韵律的和谐几乎达到了极致。</p><p> 据此，翻译这首诗的标题时，“四月天”没有译为“April day ”而是译为“April paradise”以达“传神”之效。对于整首诗的翻译，主要是以“达意”为目标，译文的意象、行数、词语的跳跃形式与原作的意象、行数、词语的跳跃形式基本一致，译文还隔行押韵。译文力争与原作等效。</p>
