Dedicated to Toronto, to Canada, and to everyone who believes that education has the power to change the world.

As the first light of dawn gently glides across the waters of Lake Ontario,

the morning breeze lifts a crimson maple leaf into the boundless sky.

A young city awakens, bathed in golden sunlight.

Her name is Toronto.

Here,

the lake mirrors the heavens,

the forests embrace the city,

winter’s snow prepares the coming of spring,

and the four seasons compose an everlasting poem of life’s renewal.

Here,

people from every corner of the world walk together,

bringing different languages,

different cultures,

different beliefs,

and different dreams.

Here,

people are not separated by their differences;

instead, they come to know one another through mutual respect.

They are not divided by cultural diversity;

instead, they journey forward through mutual learning among civilizations.

Here,

multiculturalism is no longer merely an ideal;

it is a living landscape unfolding every day.

Inclusion is no longer simply a word;

it is the warmest bridge connecting one heart to another.

Yet the greatness of a city

is measured not only by its soaring skyline,

nor merely by its economic prosperity.

Its true greatness lies in the people it nurtures.

Its lasting legacy lies in the civilization it inspires.

And so,

a Wisdom Garden without walls

begins to flourish quietly within human hearts.

Here,

Wisdom is not the accumulation of knowledge,

A single Flow Seed

falls gently upon the earth.

It makes no thunderous sound,

becoming responsibility and purpose.

It falls into the hearts of parents,

blossoming into understanding and companionship.

It falls into the hearts of teachers,

growing into wisdom and guidance.

It falls into the heart of a city,

becoming trust and cooperation.

It falls into the heart of the world,

becoming peace and hope.

One seed transforms one life.

One life influences one family.

One family warms one city.

One city illuminates one nation.

One nation joins hands with the world.

And so,

a new chapter of civilization begins.

May Truth

be the lighthouse that guides every searching mind.

May Wisdom

be the steadfast compass behind every meaningful choice.

May Love

melt every wall of indifference between people.

May Joy

shine through every season of life’s journey.

May Peace,

transcending borders, nations, and languages,

become the shared dream of all humanity.

May Hope,

like the seeds of spring,

take root and flourish in every heart.

Education is not about shaping every child into the same image.

Education is about helping every life

discover its own light,

become its own light,

and illuminate the path for others.

When millions of teachers sow wisdom;

when millions of families cultivate character;

when countless schools plant hope;

when countless cities nurture civilization—

humanity will possess the collective strength

to walk together toward peace.

Toronto,

may you become fertile ground for educational innovation,

making the world wiser through learning.

About the Author

Yan Li is a permanently certified teacher in Ontario, Canada, and a member of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT). She serves as a board member of the Chinese Writers Society of Canada and works as an English translator, book editor, author, insurance advisor, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner. She is the recipient of the President’s Award, the Diamond Award, and the King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of her professional achievements and community contributions. As a chief editor, managing editor, translator, and author, she has contributed to the publication of more than 300 books spanning education, literature, and travel. She currently resides in Toronto, Canada.
