Have you memorized countless words but still struggle to form a complete sentence? I used to be just like you in high school, my English was among the worst when I spoke. It sounded like typical Chinglish when talking with foreign teachers, I would get so nervous that I forgot words and made grammar mistakes. Eventually I became too afraid to speak at all, but now I can communicate fluently and have even become a language educator today, I want to share the methods that helped me make my spoken English sound natural. First to sound natural, you need to let go of perfectionism and be willing to make mistakes. I used to obsess over grammar and pronunciation, the more I feared making mistakes, the less I dared to speak.

你是否觉得练习英语口语很久,一开口却还是生硬呆板?背了无数单词,却依然难以连成完整句子?高中时的我也和你一样,开口说英语时水平垫底。和外教对话是典型的中式英语,一紧张就忘词、语法错误百出,最后变得不敢开口。但现在的我已经能流畅交流,甚至成为语言教育者。今天我想分享让我口语变得自然的方法。首先,要摆脱完美主义,敢于犯错。我曾执着于语法发音,越怕错越不敢说。

Later, I started recording my daily life in English every day, even something as simple as today. I ate an apple. I would say out loud when I made mistakes. I corrected them right away. Once while chatting with a foreign friend, I said I very happy instead of. I am very happy. They corrected me with a smile and I never forgot the correct . This kind of learning through real life correction is far more effective than memorizing grammar rules. Second imitation and immersion are key. Spend 30min every day mimicking native English speakers. Their tone, rhythm and pauses start with daily conversations, then gradually move to speeches. Slowly you will get rid of a translated accent at the same time, actively talk to foreign teachers or English learners.

后来,我开始每天用英语记录日常生活,哪怕是"我吃了一个苹果"这样简单的事。说错了就立刻纠正。有次和外国朋友聊天,我把"I am very happy"说成了"I very happy",对方笑着指正后,我就再也没忘过。这种在生活场景中纠错的学习方式,远比死记语法有效得多。

其次,模仿和沉浸是关键。每天花30分钟模仿母语者的语音语调、节奏停顿,从日常对话开始,逐步过渡到演讲。同时要主动和外语教师或学习者交流,这样能逐渐摆脱翻译腔。

Begin with easy topics like the weather or hobbies, don't overthink your sentences, just speak naturally. This helps you adapt to the rhythm of spoken English. Finally, the core of speaking is expressing your thoughts, not showing off fancy vocabulary when teaching students. I've noticed that many people memorize complex sentence structures, yet they still sound unnatural when speaking, that's because they focus too much on sounding advanced and ignore fluency. In fact, simple words with smooth delivery are far more natural than complicated sentences. First dare to speak, then aim to speak well, step by step, you will improve. Speaking naturally doesn't happen overnight, let go of anxiety and speak boldly, learn through practice and correction with time you'll find yourself speaking English effortlessly.
