Through this collection, poems by 40 poets from 25 countries across five continents were introduced in Marathi translation.</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">The anthology familiarized Marathi readers, for the first time, with poetry emerging from culturally unfamiliar regions of the world.</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">Along with widely celebrated and renowned poets from countries such as India, United States, Russia, China, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Palestine, Egypt, Azerbaijan, South Africa, Indonesia, and Austria, the anthology also brought important contemporary poets from Namibia, Nicaragua, Morocco, Nigeria, Cameroon, Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia, and Senegal to Marathi readers.</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">Recognizing it as “a work of outstanding literary value,” the Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad has announced the Vijaya Gadgil Memorial Literary Award for आनंदोत्सवाचा विश्वसेतू “Universal Bridge of Blissful Festival.” Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad, Pune, is the oldest literary institution of Marathi speakers with a history of 120 years. The award ceremony will take place in Pune on 26 May 2026 during the institution’s 121st anniversary celebrations.</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">The anthology, translated by Prithviraj Taur and edited by Swati Haribhau Kate, was officially released during the Second World Congress of the World Organization of Writers (WOW) held in Moscow in September. Most of the poets featured in the anthology were present at the release event.</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">In June 2026, the second volume of the World Poetry Series will be released at the Minangkabau International Literacy Festival (IMLF4) organized in Indonesia. The new representative anthology titled “Cultural Celebration of Universal Poetry” विश्वकाव्याचा संस्कृती उत्सव includes Marathi translations of poems by 30 poets from 22 countries across six continents.</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">Along with poets featured in the first volume such as Ashraf Aboul Yazid Dali, Aminur Rahman, Anna Keiko, Sastri Bakry, and Lebogang Lance Nawa, the new collection also features poems by 25 additional poets.</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">After the prestigious award announcement by Yogesh Soman, Swati Mahalank, and Anjali Kulkarni on behalf of Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad, translator Prithviraj Taur expressed gratitude to all the poets included in the anthology.
