A letter for the hotel owner in Baghdad (in English)
مرحبًا السيد محمد.
　　Mohamed 先生，你好。
　　Mr. Mohamed Hello.
في كل مرة أعود فيها من رحلة سفر بسيارة خاصة، يكون لدي عادة جيدة: بعد أن تختفي التعبات التي أشعر بها، أكتب بعض الذكريات بشكل متقطع، حتى لا أغفل عنها في المستقبل.
　　我每一次自驾游归来，总有一个好习惯，待我满身的疲惫消散后，会断断续续写一些回忆，以免以后忘记了。
　　Every time I return from a self-driving trip, I always develop a good habit. After my body's exhaustion fades away, I will intermittently write down some memories to prevent myself from forgetting them later.
هذه الرحلة إلى الشرق الأوسط بالسيارة استمرت ستة أشهر، وبلغ طولها أربعة آلاف كيلومتر، ولا يمكن إنكار أنها كانت مرهقة. ولكن ما أريد كتابته ليس أول دولة مررت بها، ولا ثاني دولة، بل وحتى الثالثة أو الرابعة أو الخامسة، بل أريد أن أكتب رسالة لسيد محمد، الذي استقبلنا بحفاوة في بغداد.
　　这次中东自驾，为时六个月，行程四万公里，不能说不累，首先要写的，不是我第一个经过的国家，也不是我第二个经过的国家，甚至第三第四第五个都不是，而是要给你，给在巴格达热情接待过我们的——Mohamed 先生写一封信。
　　This cross-country driving trip in the Middle East lasted for six months and covered a distance of 40,000 kilometers. It's safe to say that it was quite tiring. The first thing I want to write about is not the first country I visited, nor the second one, nor even the third, fourth, or fifth. Instead, I want to write a letter to you, Mr. Mohamed, who warmly received us in Baghdad.
ذلك لأننا، كأثنين من كبار السن، نستمتع بدفء أسرة في هذا البلد الجميل، وفي العراق الذي يحمل تاريخًا مدنيًا يمتد لـ 6000 عام.
　　那是因为我们老两口在这个美好的国度，在有着人类文明6000年历史的伊拉克，享受到家一样的温暖。
That's because the two of us, old as we are, are living in this wonderful country, in Iraq, which has a 6,000-year history of human civilization, and we are enjoying the warmth of home.　　
آسف، هل هذه الرسالة كُتبت متأخرًا جدًا؟
　　抱歉，这封信是否写得太晚。
　　Sorry, was this letter written too late?
في بوسرا، المدينة الكبرى الأولى التي دخلناها في بلدكم، انقضت فتاة إيركية في ذراع زوجها، واصطدمت بذراعه بقوة شديدة، فجأة، وبلا توقع، وربما ألم رأس الطفل أيضًا بشدة.
　　在巴士拉，那是我们进入贵国的第一个大城市，一个伊拉克小女孩，一头扑进老伴的怀里，把老伴的胳膊撞得生疼，一下子撞个猝不及防，想必小孩子的头也撞得生疼。
　　In Basra, that was the first major city we entered in your country. An Iraqi girl threw herself into her husband's arms, bumping his arm so hard that it hurt. She suddenly collided with him without any warning. Presumably, the child's head also hurt badly.
أهلاً، هذه الطفلة التي لا تزال تضحك. 　　嗨，就是这个小孩子，她还在笑。
　　Hi, it's this little kid. She's still smiling.

　　The picture above shows the calm-downed spouse, who is taking pictures with the children for each other.
وبدأت تبدو أننا نحن نصبح نجومًا واسعة النطاق على الإنترنت في العراق، فهناك كبار السن، وأطفال، وشباب، وبالغون، وعديد من الناس يلتقطون صوراً معنا. كما أن هناك شباباً يطلقون علينا لقب "أبي وأم"، وهو أمر مريح جداً. أما الذين يُطلقون علينا لقب "جدٍّ وأم"، فلابد أن يكونوا موجودين أيضاً، لكنني لا أجيد الإنجليزية جيداً، ولذلك لا أستطيع فهمهم.
　　而我们在伊拉克似乎成了网红大明星，有老人，有孩子，有年轻人，有成年人，有很多人跟我们拍照。也有年轻人喊我们爸爸妈妈，听了十分的温馨。有没有喊爷爷奶奶的，也应该有，但我英语不好，听不懂。
　　In Iraq, we seemed to have become big internet celebrities. There were elderly people, children, young people, adults, and many people taking pictures with us. Some young people even called us "mom" and "dad". It was very touching. Were there any who called us "grandpa" and "grandma"? There should have been, but I don't know much English and can't understand.
المشي في شوارع العراق يشعرك بالثقة والراحة كما لو كنت في وطنك.
　　在伊拉克街头散步，犹如在自己的国家一样踏实。
　　Walking on the streets of Iraq feels as secure as being in one's own country.
نذهب بالسيارة إلى الأردن، ويجب أن نمر عبر ميناء تريبل (Trebil) في بلدكم، الذي يُعرف في الأردن باسم كارمة (Al-Karameh). يبعد حوالي 552 كيلومترًا من فندقك في بغداد، ويعتقد أن هناك جزءًا من الطريق مخاطر فيه.
　　我们自驾去约旦，必须通过贵国的特莱比勒（Trebil）口岸，约旦那边称为卡拉马（Al-Karameh）。从巴格达你的旅馆出发约552公里，据说其中有一段路，有点危险。
　　We are driving to Jordan and have to pass through the Trebil border crossing of your country. In Jordan, it is called Al-Karameh. From your hotel in Baghdad, it is about 552 kilometers away. It is said that there is a section of the road that is a bit dangerous.
لكننا لم نشعر بالخطر، لأن هناك جنودًا عظماء من وطنكم يرافقوننا في الرحلة ذهابًا وإيابًا.
　　但我们没有感到危险，因为来回两次，都有贵国伟大的军人护送。
　　But we didn't feel in danger because, on both trips, we were escorted by the great soldiers of your country.
الذهاب إلى الأردن لأول مرة في 21 نوفمبر 2025، ولم ألتقط صورة تذكارية هذه المرة.
　　第一次2025年11月21号去约旦，这次居然没有拍照留念。
　　The first time I went to Jordan on November 21st, 2025. Surprisingly, I didn't take any photos to commemorate the occasion.
الرحلة الثانية في 22 فبراير 2026، عدت من الجمارك الأردنية إلى بغداد، وهذه المرة كانت مميزة، وحصلت على بضع صور فقط، وهي ذكريات ثمينة حقًا.
　　第二次2026年2月22号从约旦海关回巴格达，这次有了，也只有难得的几张，这都是珍贵的回忆呀。
　　The second time, on February 22nd, 2026, I returned to Baghdad from the Jordanian customs. This time, I did get some, but only a few rare ones. These are all precious memories.

عند رؤية الصورة أعلاه، تذكرت مرة أخرى أمرًا مأساويًا للغاية.
　　看到上面的照片，我又想起了一件特遗憾的事情。
　　Seeing the picture above, I recalled another particularly regrettable incident.
في يوم 22 فبراير 2026، عند الممر الأول، ترك لي ضابط شاب انطباعًا عميقًا. كان ذكيًا وحذراً ودفئًا، وكأنه يتحدث معني كشقيق أصغر وأكثر حبًا مني. لم يكن طويل القامة، بل كان أعلى مني بسمة واحدة فقط.
　　在2026年2月22号那天，我在第一个检查站，有一个年轻的军官，给我留下的印象特别深刻。他聪明，机智，温暖，像我一个特别亲的晚辈和我说话。他个子不高，只比我高一点。
　　On February 22nd, 2026, at the first checkpoint, there was a young officer who left a particularly deep impression on me. He was intelligent, witty, and warm, as if he were speaking to a particularly close relative of mine. He wasn't tall; he was only a little taller than me.
الآن، أبحث في الصور، وأبحث هنا وهناك، لكنني لا أجده، إنه أمر مأساوي حقًا.
　　现在查阅照片，找来找去，就是没有他，太遗憾了。
　　Now I look through the photos, searching and searching, but I can't find him. It's such a pity.

أنا متأكد تمامًا من أنني سأتابع سيارة جنود مسلحة.
　　我一万个放心跟在武装皮卡后面。
　　I'm perfectly fine following the armored pickup truck.

كان هذا الجندي العراقي صادقًا جدًا، فقدم لي الكثير من الأطعمة اللذيذة، مثل الحليب، والخبز الكبير، والجبن، بعضها لا يمكنني تذكر أسمه. وعندما وصلنا إلى بغداد، استغرقنا ثلاثة أيام لتناولها جميعًا. كما كان هناك جوز الهند اللذيذ بشكل خاص، حلو جدًا، شديد الحلاوة، يشبه العسل في حلاوته، وكان قد بلغ وزنه 700 غرام، فأنا كنت أتناول قليلاً منه كل صباح حتى وصلت إلى الجورجيا.
　　这位伊拉克军人太实在了，送了我那么多好吃的，有牛奶，大饼，奶酪，有的名字叫不出来。到了巴格达，吃了三天才吃完。还有特别好吃的椰枣，甜，非常甜，像蜜一样甜，可能有700克，我每天早晨吃一点，一直吃到格鲁吉亚。
　　This Iraqi soldier was very down-to-earth. He gave me so much delicious food, including milk, pancakes, cheese, and some I couldn't even name. After arriving in Baghdad, I ate it for three days before finishing it all. There were also particularly delicious dates, sweet, extremely sweet, as sweet as honey. There were about 700 grams each, and I ate a little every morning until I reached Georgia.

عندما وصلت إلى بغداد، اشتريت ثمانية علب من جوز الكاكاو في السوق الكبير أسفل فندقك، ثم أخذتها إلى الصين. وأعطيت خمسة منها كهدايا ثمينة لأصدقائي وأقاربي، بينما حفظت ثلاث علب لنفسي، وأنا أتناولها كل صباح.
　　到了巴格达，我就在你家旅馆下面的大市场，买了八盒椰枣带回中国。其中五盒当做珍贵的礼物送亲友，我自己留了三盒，现在每天早晨吃。
　　When I arrived in Baghdad, I bought eight boxes of dates from the large market below your hotel and brought them back to China. I gave five boxes as precious gifts to my relatives and friends, and kept three for myself. Now I eat them every morning.

الإيرانيون صادقون، ولا يُهانون في الأعمال التجارية.
　　伊拉克人诚实，做生意童叟无欺。
　　The Iraqis are honest and they conduct business with integrity.
اشتريت لحم بقري في هذا المتجر، لكنني لا أفهم اللغة، ولم أستطع أن أعرف السعر، فأخذت بيديّ وحملت كومة س dollars سميكة حديثة التغيير، وطلبت منه أن يختار.
　　我在这个店买牛肉，语言不通，听不懂要多少钱，我便手抓着刚换来的厚叠叠的一叠钱，让他挑。
　　I bought beef at this store. Since I didn't understand the language, I couldn't figure out the price. So I held the thick stack of money I had just received in my hand and asked him to pick out the beef for me.
انظر، انظر، أختر بعض العملات الصغيرة، ويشير إلى أننا يمكننا الذهاب.
　　他看啊，看啊，挑了几张小钱，示意我们可以走了。
　　He looked, looked, picked out a few small coins, and signaled that we could go.
بعد ذلك، كنا نشتري من سوبر ماركت في الطابق السفلي، ونظرًا لعدم وجود تواصل لغوي، كنا نأخذ بطاقة نقدية كبيرة ونضعها أمام البائع بثقة ودون قلق.
　　后来我们在楼下超市买东西，语言不通，基本都是拿出来一张大额票子，放心大胆的让商家找。
　　Later, we went shopping at the supermarket downstairs. Due to language barriers, we mostly just handed over a large bill and trusted the merchants to handle the change.

أثناء ذلك، رفع بعض التجار رؤوسهم وهم يهزونها، مُعبِّرين عن أن القيمة المطلوبة كبيرة جدًا، فأخذوا مني نقودًا بقيمة أقل ثم عادوا بعملة أصغر. فكانت ردود أفعالنا إعجابية، فلم نكن ندرك أن المبلغ المطلوب كان بهذا الحجم الصغير!
　　有的商家看了摇摇头，意思是面额太大了，从我手中找出面额小一点的钱，然后再找回一张更小的钱，我们都惊叹了，原来要的钱是这么少啊。
　　Some merchants simply looked at each other and shook their heads, indicating that the denomination was too large. They took out smaller denomination money from their pockets and then gave back a smaller note. We were all amazed. It turns out that the amount we needed was so little.
أسعار السلع في بلادكم مريحة حقًا.
　　贵国的物价真是太宜居了。
　　The prices in your country are really very reasonable.
أتذكر أننا كنا نقوم بخدمات صيانة السيارات في بغداد، وانت تشتكي من ارتفاع الأسعار، لكنني أعتقد أن هذا السعر طبيعي. ما لا تعرفه هو أننا لم نتوقع أيضًا أن السيارات نفسها، والصيانة نفسها، في أبو ظبي بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، تُدفع فيها عشر مرات أكثر من سعرها في بلدك.
　　记得我们在巴格达做汽车保养，你曾经抱怨过贵，但我认为是正常价。你不知道的是，我们也没想到，在阿联酋的阿布扎比，同样的汽车，同样的保养，他们要的钱是贵国的十倍之多。
　　I remember when we were doing car maintenance in Baghdad, you once complained about the high cost, but I thought it was a normal price. What you didn't know was that we didn't expect it either. In Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, for the same car and the same maintenance, they charged ten times more than in your country.　　
يقولون إن هذا يجب أن يُغير، وذاك يجب أن يُغير، وكل شيء يجب أن يُغير، ولكن في النهاية لم يُغيروا شيئًا.
　　他们说这个要换，那个要换，统统的要换，结果什么也没有换。
　　They kept saying that this should be replaced, that one should be replaced, and everything should be replaced. But in the end, nothing was replaced.
العالم حقًا لا يرحم الغنيين.
　　这世界真是为富者不仁。
　　This world is truly cruel to the rich.
في 28 فبراير، اندلع حرب إسرائيل على إيران في الولايات المتحدة، وفجأة أدركت كم كان من الثمين أن الجنود العراقيين، الذين عانوا الجوع خلال شهر الصوم الذي بدأ في 22 فبراير من هذا العام، قد قدموا لنا الحماية.
　　2月28号，美国以色列伊朗战争爆发，我突然意识到，在今年2月22号的斋月期间，伊拉克军人饿肚子为我们的护送，是多么珍贵。
　　On February 28th, the war between the United States, Israel and Iran broke out. Suddenly, I realized how precious it was for the Iraqi soldiers to go without food to escort us during the Ramadan period on February 22nd this year.
ظننا في ذلك الوقت أن لا يوجد خطر، لكن في الواقع كان الخطر مخفيًا ولا نعرفه.
　　我们当时误认为没有危险，其实是潜伏着危险我们不知道。
　　At that time, we mistakenly believed there was no danger, but in fact, there was hidden danger that we were unaware of.
في ذلك الوقت، كنا قد وصلنا إلى إلبيل في بلدكم، لكن رحلات الطيران توقفت، فهرول العديد من الركاب بالرعب وركضوا على متن الحافلات نحو الحدود التركية.
　　其时我们已经到了贵国的埃尔比勒，航班停飞，许多旅友吓得连滚带爬，乘大巴向土耳其边境涌来。
　　At that time, we had already arrived in Erbil, Iraq. The flights were grounded and many fellow travelers were so frightened that they fled in all directions, boarding buses and heading towards the Turkish border.
لم أشعر بالتوتر، أو بالقلق، فذهبت بسرعة إلى تركيا في يوم 2 مارس.　　
　　我不紧张，也紧张，在3月2号那天急匆匆开车去了土耳其。
　　I wasn't nervous, but I was. On March 2nd, I hurriedly drove to Turkey.
بينما كنا ننتظر في طابور التفتيش الأمني، سحبتُ صندوق اليد الثقيل، وحظيتُ مرة أخرى بخدمة أولوية.
　　在安检行李排队时，我们拉着沉重的行李箱，又享受了一次优先照顾。
　　While queuing up for the luggage security check, we were pulling our heavy suitcases, but we once again received preferential treatment.
بعد عودتي إلى الوطن، كنت أفكر كثيرًا في أن الفندق الذي تديره ليس فندقًا، بل سفينة، وإن لم تكن كبيرة، فهي سفينة الصداقة، سفينة مليئة بالصداقة بين الصين وإيران.

　　回国后我常常在想，你所经营的旅馆其实不是旅馆，是一艘船，虽然不大，但它是一艘友谊之船，是满载着中国伊拉克的友谊之船。
　　After returning to my country, I often wondered that the hotel you were running was not really a hotel at all. It was more like a ship. Although it was not very large, it was a ship of friendship - a ship fully loaded with friendship between China and Iraq.
أنت شخصية مفتوحة وودودة، تُفضل مساعدة الآخرين، وصديقك منتشر في كل مكان. أعتقد أن لديك بالتأكيد أصدقاء من الجيش، ليس فقط واحدًا، بل الكثيرين. كم أتمنى أن أرسل لك رسالة لي، وأعرضها لأصدقائي العسكريين، ثم ينقلها الأصدقاء إلى آخرين.
　　你性格豪爽，助人为乐，你的朋友遍天下。我猜想你肯定有军人朋友，不但有，甚至很多。我多么希望你把我写给你的信，给你的军人朋友们看，然后朋友们再转给朋友们看。
　　You have a bold and generous personality and are always ready to help others. You have friends all over the world. I guess you must have many military friends, not just a few. How I wish you could show the letter I wrote to you to your military friends, and then they could pass it on to their friends.
إذا رأى الجنود الذين يرافقوني في 22 فبراير 2026 الرسالة التي كتبتها، فسيكون ذلك سعادة تُستيقظ من خلالها حتى لو كنت نائمًا.
　　如果在2026年2月22号那天护送我的军人们能够看到我写的信，那将是我睡着了也笑醒了的快乐事。
　　If the soldiers who escorted me on February 22nd, 2026 could read the letter I wrote, it would be a delightful thing for me - even if I were asleep, I would wake up smiling.
شكرًا مرة أخرى للجنود العراقيين العظماء، الذين لم يحموا فقط شعب العراق، بل حماوا أيضًا منا (السياح) القادمين من بلدان غريبة.
　　再次谢谢伟大的伊拉克军人，他们不但保护着伊拉克人民，也保护着来自异国他乡的我们（旅游者）。
　　Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to the valiant Iraqi soldiers. They not only protect the Iraqi people, but also safeguard us (tourists) who come from foreign lands.
تقديس للجنود العراقيين العظماء،
　　向伟大的伊拉克军人致敬，
　　Pay tribute to the great Iraqi soldiers
أتمنى أن تزدهر الصداقة بين الصين وإيران إلى الأبد.
　　祝中国伊拉克两国友谊万古长青。
　　Wish the friendship between China and Iraq lasts forever.
