Master Kou Fuping, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Chinese Ceramic Art, completed his latest work, the Auspicious Pattern Zun Cup, at the end of 2025. Within this miniature desk ornament, the wisdom of millennia-old motifs merges seamlessly with contemporary aesthetic sensibilities, composing a symphony of porcelain that transcends time and space.

As the carving knife gently touches the porcelain body, the Warring States period taotie patterns awaken from the solemn history of bronze, transforming into an elegant expression of white porcelain. The form of ancient ritual vessels, refined through artistic distillation, becomes an exquisite object of literary appreciation suited for the modern scholar's desk. This is not only a tribute to traditional craftsmanship but also a cultural practice that revitalizes ancient aesthetics for today's world.

The cup's design carries profound meaning: between its upright lines, two raised bowstring patterns resemble traces of time, delineating the vessel's rhythmic layers. The meticulously crafted yet dynamic taotie motifs retain the essence of bronze while incorporating the warm, gentle qualities of porcelain.
