<p class="ql-block">When the tide of Pacific Ocean </p><p class="ql-block">waves towards </p><p class="ql-block">the beautiful Bondi’s beach，</p><p class="ql-block">It’s the City of Waverley !</p> <p class="ql-block">When the tender of the wind,</p><p class="ql-block">blows through </p><p class="ql-block">the marvellous parks of</p><p class="ql-block">Centennial and the Queen, </p><p class="ql-block">It’s the City of Waverley!</p> <p class="ql-block">When the daylight rays </p><p class="ql-block">fall upon the red bricks</p><p class="ql-block">and the walls of grey,</p><p class="ql-block">It’s the happy families </p><p class="ql-block">who are living in the City of Waverley!</p> <p class="ql-block">The following are my local sketches.</p> <p class="ql-block">When in the early summer,</p><p class="ql-block">the pink blue of Jacarandas</p><p class="ql-block">are singing in the corners </p><p class="ql-block">of here and there,</p><p class="ql-block">It’s the City flower of Waverley!</p> <p class="ql-block">When the laughing and talking </p><p class="ql-block">fill the busy streets and malls , </p><p class="ql-block">you can find </p><p class="ql-block">any products from cheap to trendy, </p><p class="ql-block">Just like Tokyo’s GINZA,</p><p class="ql-block">or Avenue Montaigne in Paris.</p><p class="ql-block">It’s the heart of the City of Waverley ！</p> <p class="ql-block">Oh, Waverley, this is the beach brother of Sydney,</p><p class="ql-block">Where the peace and love </p><p class="ql-block">are always waving!</p> <p class="ql-block">Just 2weeks after this poem a tragedy occurred in the </p><p class="ql-block">Bondi Beach!</p><p class="ql-block">I have to write an extra in my song of Waverley!</p> <p class="ql-block">But, who knows,</p><p class="ql-block">In 2025, on fourteenth of December, </p><p class="ql-block">At the beach of Bondi,</p><p class="ql-block">As usual the same lovely day, </p><p class="ql-block">Two men in black, </p><p class="ql-block">held guns to sneak,</p><p class="ql-block">They occupied the bridge deck, </p><p class="ql-block"> With cold , cruel hearts, they shoot so quick .</p><p class="ql-block">At a peaceful group celebrating Hanukkah,</p><p class="ql-block">and many many others ,lying on the sand!</p><p class="ql-block">This is a cowardly killing!</p><p class="ql-block">This is an evil killing!</p><p class="ql-block">At that moment, our hero, a brave citizen. </p><p class="ql-block">risked his own life,</p><p class="ql-block">jumped at the criminal, </p><p class="ql-block">seized his gun!</p><p class="ql-block">The policemen also came in time, </p><p class="ql-block">to encircle and captured the gunmen.</p><p class="ql-block">But , sadly, fifteen innocent people died in the end,</p><p class="ql-block">Our hearts are trembling, </p><p class="ql-block">The City of Waverley is wailing!</p><p class="ql-block">No more violence! </p><p class="ql-block">Because this land is not for prejudice and hatred ! </p><p class="ql-block">Let peace and love </p><p class="ql-block">Always waving in the City of Waverley!</p> <p class="ql-block">Last year’s tragedy.</p><p class="ql-block">On 13April 2024， a stabbing happened in Bondi </p><p class="ql-block">Junction shopping mall . I sketched the sad moment </p><p class="ql-block">when the people paid tribute to the tragedy .TV </p><p class="ql-block">Channel 7and 9，both made videos and aired in the</p><p class="ql-block"> night news program. One reporter said ：At this sad </p><p class="ql-block">time, a painting might last longer than memory.</p><p class="ql-block">Yes, I believe this painting is part of our City of </p><p class="ql-block">Waverley ‘s history.</p> <p class="ql-block">Days later I made another sketch which showed the </p><p class="ql-block">market was recovering with busy and peace .That</p><p class="ql-block"> should always be the City of Waverley !</p><p class="ql-block">But we should never , ever forget those tragedies !</p><p class="ql-block"> </p>
