I've Built A System For Myself

As I entered an international high school, all my friends were surprised at my short hair. This is because my old school thought teenagers were not the ones for looking pretty, so I colored my hair blue. For the first time, I felt free, because this international school seemed to meet my needs.

I had a terrible education background. I went to public schools, received normal education, and was required to follow rules like every other student. Later, I began to wonder whether this education was truly suitable for me.

However, in the new school, my high hopes were not met. For a while, I found myself in a surprising situation that I had faced before. It was surprising that the biggest challenge I faced in my education was the freedom to try new things in the old system. I was strongly advised against trying new things. But in my new school, it worked in the opposite way—we had many chances to try new things. But if I failed, I must be responsible because I put myself at such risk. Finally, it led me to get into trouble again.

As time went by, I started to find my own balance. In fact, none of the education systems in the world are perfect. I am lucky enough to have a chance to bring great value from both systems together. As a result, I have built a system for myself.

- 文中例句:thought(think的过去式)、began(begin的过去式)、failed(fail的过去式)、seemed(seem的过去式)。

- 文中例句:had faced(face的过去分词为faced,表“进入新学校前遇到的情况”)。

- 定义:to后接动词原形,表目的、机会、能力等,常见搭配“have a chance to do sth”(有机会做某事)。

- 文中例句:to meet my needs、to try new things、to bring great value。

- 重点:at risk(处于风险中),不可用in risk;advise against(劝阻),against后接动名词。

1. look pretty /ˈlʊkɪŋ ˈprɪti/

2. feel free /felt friː/

3. seem to meet my needs /siːmd tu miːt maɪ niːdz/

5. follow rules /ˈfɒləʊ ruːlz/

6. begin to wonder /bɪˈɡæn tu ˈwʌndə/

7. high hopes were not met /haɪ həʊps wɜː nɒt met/

8. surprising situation /səˈpraɪzɪŋ ˌsɪtʃuˈeɪʃn/

9. try new things /traɪ njuː θɪŋz/

10. advise against /ədˈvaɪzd əˈɡenst/

11. work in the opposite way /wɜːkt ɪn ði ˈɒpəzɪt weɪ/ 适得其反

12. at such risk /æt sʌtʃ rɪsk/

13. lead me to get into trouble /led mi tu ɡet ˈɪntu ˈtrʌbl/

14. go by /went baɪ/ (时间)流逝

15. build a system for myself /bɪlt ə ˈsɪstəm fɔː maɪˈself/

1. terrible /ˈterəbl/ adj.

2. colored /ˈkʌləd/ v.

3. suitable /ˈsuːtəbl/ adj. 适合的

4. challenge /ˈtʃælɪndʒ/ n. 挑战

5. responsible /rɪˈspɒnsəbl/ adj.

6. balance /ˈbæləns/ n. 平衡

7. perfect /ˈpɜːfɪkt/ adj. 完美的

8. value /ˈvæljuː/ n.

1.
