又再次来到越南

又再次来到越南，只是这是一个我没来过的城市。

除了30年前当兵时期到过越南边界，前两年去胡志明市出差一周（都属于公干），今年竟然分别在8月初到越南富国岛度假与这周到岘港打球，这是我与太太之前怎么都预料不到的。

与一班新加坡和香港老友相聚的日子，就在昨天掀开欢乐的一幕。接下来的5天里，我确知我们一定会很珍惜在一起的时光，不论是打球，还是吃饭，或是唱歌，或者闲聊。

不知不觉间，我们这一班老友相聚在一起都快10年了，当初我们因为打球而相聚，而现在我们却不只是因为打球而相聚。

10年前，我们大部分人已经50开外（包括我在内），而如今，我们都已到了花甲之年，难得每年都能相聚一起（除了疫情那3年），实属不易。

在未来的岁月里，也许我们还会相聚，或许我们会错过相聚。但有时人与人之间的关系就是这么微妙，相处了一段时间，就会产生情感联结。而且这并不只是限于家庭，也包括老友。

虽然期间也有一些朋友，会因为某些事宜而无法相聚，不过大家还是会记得，我们一起度过的欢乐时光。

而这，已然足矣。。

Once again, I'm in Vietnam, but this time in a city I've never visited before.

Apart from being in Vietnam border 30 years ago due to military service & a business trip to Ho Chi Minh City for a week 2 years ago (both work-related), its true that I didn’t expect my wife & I would find ourselves vacationing on Phu Quoc Island in early August & now playing golf in Da Nang this week. This is truly something we never would have foreseen.

The joyful moments with a group of old friends from Singapore & HK began just yesterday. Over the next 5 days, I know we will cherish every moment together, whether we're playing golf, gathering for dinner, singing & merry together or simply chatting.

Unknowingly, it has been nearly 10 years since our group of friends first came together. We initially bonded over golf, but now our connections run much deeper than just golfing.

10 years ago, most of us were already over fifty, including myself. Now, we have all reached our sixties, and being able to gather every year (except during the 3 years pandemic) is truly something special.

In the years to come, we may continue to meet, or we might miss some gatherings. But there’s something subtle about human relationships—spending time together creates bonds. And this doesn’t only apply to family, it extends to old friends as well.

Although some friends couldn’t make it this time due to various reasons, everyone still holds dear the joyful memories we’ve shared.

And that, in itself, is enough..
