9月7日， 我們四個人來到奧地利維亞納， 開始了12天的布達佩斯，薩爾斯堡和維亞納之旅。早上8點多飛機就到了維亞納機場，11點40分搭長途巴士去布達佩斯， 三小時不到就到了布達佩斯的尼普利蓋特巴士站。

歐洲的長途巴士網絡特別發達，國內，國際，地區的幾乎覆蓋了每一個大小城鎮，班次頻密，價格便宜，巴士乾淨， 座位比飛機上的座位還舒服。 有行李的人，搭巴士比起上下火車站的月台，行李再搬上搬下火車要輕鬆許多。如果行程在四小時之內，我總是會首選巴士。

On September 7th, the four of us arrived in Vienna, Austria, beginning a 12-day trip to Budapest, Salzburg, and Vienna. Our flight arrived at Vienna Airport shortly after 8:00 AM, and we boarded a long-distance bus to Budapest at 11:40 AM. It took less than three hours to reach Budapest's Népliget Autóbusz-Pályaudvar.

Europe's long-distance bus network is exceptionally well-developed, covering nearly every city and town, both large and small, with frequent, international, and regional departures. The buses are clean, affordable, and the seats are even more comfortable than airplane seats. For those with luggage, taking the bus is much easier than getting on and off the train platform and then carrying luggage on and off the train. For trips under four hours, I'd always prefer to choose the bus.
住進飯店後才四點多，飯店附近有一家餐廳還開著，裡面裝潢很豪華舒適。我們就坐下了。
這是一家五星級的飯店，叫做布達佩斯 Kimpton Bem 飯店。吃飯發票是匈牙利文，數一數跟我們點的東西差不多。服務生要我們給小費，最少起點是20%，第一天初來駕到，又不懂匈牙利文，我們只有照他的要求加付了20%小費。不過大家心裡都有個問號，這裡的小費這麼厲害?
It was just after 4:00 PM when we checked into the hotel. A nearby restaurant was still open, it looks modern and comfortable, so we sat down.

The restaurant is inside a five-star hotel, the Kimpton Bem Budapest. Our meal invoice was in Hungarian, and the bill looked pretty much like what we'd ordered. The waiter asked for a tip, stating the minimum was 20%. It was our first day here, and we didn't understand Hungarian, so this was the only option of adding 20% top. But wondering: how come the tipping is so high here?

Anker Palace is a building in Terézváros, Budapest. It was built by Ignác Alpár in 1908 for a Viennese insurance company, the Anker Life and Pension Company. The building was built in the eclectic style and was completed in 1910. It faces on to Deák Ferenc Square.

Pasti Vigado Concert Hall is Budapest's second largest concert hall, located on the Eastern bank of the Danube in Budapest, Hungary. It was once the scene of buzzing social life of the busy inner city.

午餐做得真是不錯。到買單的時候， 服務生希望我們能給小費15%。這次我們拿了手機翻譯看了一下，帳單很清楚。我們加了小費，很高興地離開。
把昨天的帳單拿出來比較一下，居然發現昨天那個五星級的餐廳的帳單裡已經加了15%的服務費，那個服務生問我們再要20%小費！大概看準我們是遊客，太欺負人了！
Vigadó Restaurant is located downstairs of the Vigadó Concert Hall, and named after it.

Lunch was excellent. When it came time to pay, the waiter expected a 15% tip. This time, we used a mobile phone translator to check the bill, and it was clear. We added the tip and left happily.

Comparing yesterday's bill, I was surprised to find that the five-star restaurant had already added a 15% service charge, and the waiter asked for an additional 20% tip! What a rip-off!

The Hungarian State Opera House is a historic opera house located in central Budapest, on Andrássy avenue. Originally known as the Hungarian Royal Opera House, it was designed by Miklós Ybl, a major figure of 19th-century Hungarian architecture.

The Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum is the name given to a hospital created in the caverns under Buda Castle in Budapest in the 1930s, in preparation for the Second World War. It was fully booked today.

The Equestrian Statue of Andras Hadik stands as a tribute to the renowned Hussar commander who served in the Habsburg army during Maria Theresa's rule. Positioned in a charming square adorned with flowers and galleries, this heroic statue may seem ordinary at first glance, but it holds an intriguing secret. Legend has it that rubbing the horse's testicles brings good luck, leading to various traditions such as women seeking fertility touching them for conceiving luck and students for success in exams.

The Halászbástya or Fisherman's Bastion is one of the best-known historical monuments in Budapest, located near the Buda Castle, in the Várkerület. Since 1987, it has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Várkerület District.

The magnificent equestrian statue of St Stephen (St Istvan) has been located at Fisherman's bastion next to Matthias Church since 1906. St Stephen was Hungary's 1st King from 1001 to 1038 and is credited with bringing Christianity to the kingdom. Fisherman's Bastion offers amazing views of the city below.

We went to Lorinc Square in Budapest's 8th district for dinner. We headed down an alley, there are many small restaurants lining both sides, the middle alleyway are served as the dining area, continuous extending further into the alley. We chose Ramen Nikko Restaurant for Japanese ramen tonight.
吃完飯天色已經暗下來，在巷子口有幾個雕像。來不及细细看，也不太看得清，快快地拍照留證。

By the time we finished eating, it was already dark. There were a few statues at the entrance of the alley. I didn't have time to admire at them, so I quickly took a few photos.
Kálmán Mikszáth de Kiscsoltó was an acclaimed Hungarian novelist, journalist, and politician.

Count Nandor Žić was a prominent Hungarian politician and member of Parliament in the 19th century. The statue depicts him standing on a limestone pedestal in the center of the square, addressing the crowd.

The hotel's original architecture blends Parisian, Gothic, and Moorish influences. Curiously, we came to this hotel to experience its luxurious atmosphere. 帕里西通道咖啡館 (Párisi Passage Café) 位於飯店高聳的中庭，帕里西通道啤酒屋 (Párisi Passage Brasserie) 則在時尚的開放式廚房內供應當地和國際美食。
用「最豪華的飯店」的字眼來表達它風格其實還是低估了它的價值。

The Párisi Passage Café serves coffee and cocktails in the hotel’s towering atrium, and and the Párisi Passage Brasserie serves local and international dishes in a stylish open-kitchen space.

"The most luxurious hotel" is an understatement to its value.

走在布達佩斯的街頭不時看到蛋糕店，馬路到處有這個長筒式的甜點。叫庫爾特什卡拉奇（Kürtőskalács）是一種匈牙利和特蘭西瓦尼亞的糕點，也被稱為煙囪蛋糕。在布達佩斯已經第四天了，搭乘明天離開前，試試這個煙囪蛋糕。

Walking through the streets of Budapest, you'll often see cake shops selling these long, cylindrical desserts. Kürtőskalács is a Hungarian and Transylvanian pastry, also known as chimney cake. It's our fourth day in Budapest, and we went in a cakeshop to try this chimney cake before leaving tomorrow.

Nestled in the hustle and bustle of downtown Pest, the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, better known as the University Church, is one of Hungary’s most valuable and beautiful Baroque churches, preserved in its original state. During the 1848-49 War of Independence, the Parliament met here once.
Many distinguished, high-ranking guests have visited the church. Later it became a popular wedding venue among the aristocracy, where members of the most prominent noble families, including Nádasdy, Zichy, Esterházy, Festetics, Károlyi and the Andrássy dynasties, pledged their eternal vows.
For many decades, between April 1, 1928 and June 10, 2000, the bell chime at noon of the Hungarian Radio was broadcast from this church.

布達佩斯的「祖國犧牲者」紀念碑是羅蘭大學為紀念1914年至1918年間為國捐軀的學生和教職員工而建造的一座一戰紀念碑，位於大學教堂附近的埃吉特姆廣場。紀念碑上有一座奧匈帝國士兵被敵軍砲火擊中的銅像，上面刻有拉丁銘文和一首匈牙利愛國詩歌的詩句。

The Pro Patria Mortuis monument in Budapest is a World War I memorial erected by the Eötvös Loránd University for its students and faculty who died for the country between 1914 and 1918, located in Egyetem tér near the University Church. The monument features a bronze statue of an Austro-Hungarian soldier being hit by enemy fire, with Latin inscriptions and a verse from a Hungarian patriotic poem.
