An Octogenarian Plays "Special Forces"
　　耄 耋 也 玩 “ 特 种 兵 ”
Here, "octogenarian" refers to me, as I'm almost eighty years old.
耄耋，在这里指我快八十岁了。

"Special Forces" refers to arduous travel.
“特种兵”，指艰苦旅游。

It's not that I'm unwilling to spend money on travel,
不是说我舍不得花钱旅游，

but during this National Day holiday, where tourism is booming everywhere,
而是在这个各地旅游火爆的国庆长假，

every place is packed, with huge crowds swarming all over.
到处人头攒动，遍地人山人海。

My granddaughter returned from Shanghai, and her best friend came along to visit Huangshan.
孙女从上海归来，她的闺蜜一同来黄山玩玩。

We estimated the mountain would be crowded, and the foot of the mountain would be just as packed.
估计山上人多，山下也人满为患。

So, we decided to visit Guanlu and Bishan in Yi County instead.
那就去黟县关麓、碧山玩玩。

We set off at 8 a.m. and returned home at 8 p.m.
早晨八点出发，晚上八点回家。

I actually woke up at 3 a.m. (making it 17 hours in total).
我实际是凌晨三点起床的（计17个小时）。

For a full 12 hours, I was either in the car or on the road.
整整12个小时不是在车上就是在路上。

The key point was the 35°C temperature.
关键是气温35℃。

I found it a bit hard to handle.
我有点吃不消了。

Normally, I just go out to photograph the sunrise at dawn and the sunset at dusk;
平时就是早晨拍个日出，傍晚拍个日落，

the rest of the time, I always stay in my room.
其它时间总是呆在房间里。

The problem is, I'm a "professional" author on Meipian.
问题我是《美篇》的“专业”作者。

I need to capture material for my Meipian posts.
我要为我的《美篇》拍摄素材。

The workload for this single day was somewhat excessive.
这一天工作量就一点超负荷了。

Hence my playful remark: an octogenarian plays "Special Forces".
戏称：耄耋也玩“特种兵”。

An unexpected gain was personally witnessing the tourism boom during the National Day holiday.
意外收获是，亲自见证“国庆旅游”火爆。

I wish our motherland an even brighter tomorrow.
