中加首届中西诗歌创作研讨会The First China-Canada Chinese-Western Poetry Writing Symposium

2025年7月27日2:30pm------5:30pm，中加国际文化艺术家联合会与中加国际文化艺术中心，在新时代俱乐部联合举办了中加首届中西诗歌创作研讨会。由中加国际文化艺术家联合会会长、诗人刘思远、星子安娜、茜茜公主、张怡主持。荣幸邀请了十位加拿大诗人与四十位华人作家、诗人、文学艺术人才，共同探讨怎样以诗歌的文学艺术形式，传承中华优秀文化艺术，以及如何理解包容优秀的西方文化艺术为课题，欢聚一堂，营造良好的诗歌文化艺术氛围，增进对中西诗歌文化艺术的了解，促进中西文化艺术的交流，推动多元文化的共同发展，具有重要的意义与价值。

首先由作家莫里茨先生（前多伦多桂冠诗人）回顾文化差异，并分享他两次访问中国的精彩经历以及诗歌和中译的意义。密市首届桂冠诗人星子安娜朗诵自己的诗歌多媒体原创作品，由马克·哈里吉他伴奏。古土以“图像与声音：中西诗歌的比较与互鉴”为题，探讨图像与声音在古典与现代以及多种语言中的表现与诗意表达方式。

然后西方代表的诗人，分享了各自的作品，并围绕研讨会主题大家展开深入的交流与探索。其中英文诗人Allan Briesmaster（诗人，主编，出版人） 、Bunny Iskov（安省诗人协会创办人）、Diana Manole （诗人，译者，讲师）、Patrick Connors （诗人，活动策划人）、Paul Edward Costa（诗人，密市第三届桂冠诗人）和Renee M. Sgroi（诗人，评论家）并充分肯定了举办研讨会的必要性。

紧接由华人诗人、医学博士姜尼发言：“感谢组织研讨会把中西文化结合起来，中国的古诗都是有韵律的，可以吟诵的，请问英文诗歌是否也有韵律”？高级工程师、诗人湖边提出了诗歌与人性的议题：“除了格律诗，我不认为大家在艺术和诗歌上有什么差异，我相信人性是共通的”。诗人秋叶、飞鸿、彧蛇用中英文畅谈了相关中国古典诗词如何创意的话题；青城子提出了在中西诗歌创作中物质与精神的相关问题。经过四十分钟的积极讨论，大家踊跃发表自己的见解。特别让人感动的是，音乐家、诗人张祥雨、加拿大从事教育工作三十年的Paul博士、加拿大高校文学社副会长王月祥、多伦多贵州同乡会会长、双快中文学校校长罗阳富等有识之士，等待集体合影之后，还想请大家再听听他们相关中西诗歌创作的心声。

最后，国际欧西科学院创新发展研究院研究员、诗人赵友苓、加拿大朗诵艺术团的JENNY GAO 和杨杨、中加国际文化艺术家联合会理事艾雪、陕西同乡会副会长安文生、电视台主持人香子、“多伦多百灵鸟”Lily Li，抑扬顿挫的朗诵诗歌，声情并茂的歌唱，研讨会圆满结束。

The First China-Canada Symposium on Chinese and Western Poetry Creation Held in Toronto

On the afternoon of July 27, 2025, the First China-Canada Symposium on Chinese and Western Poetry Creation was successfully held at the New Era Club in Toronto, jointly hosted by the Canada-China International Cultural Artists Association and the Canada-China International Cultural and Arts Centre. The event was co-chaired by poets and cultural figures Liu Siyuan (President of the Association), Xingzi Anna, Sisi Tesser and Zhang Yi.

The symposium brought together ten renowned Canadian poets and forty Chinese writers, poets, and literary artists to engage in a meaningful exchange. Centered on how poetry, as a form of literary art, can help preserve and transmit the richness of Chinese cultural heritage while embracing and understanding the essence of Western artistic expression, the event fostered a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere of poetic discourse. It served as an important platform for promoting mutual understanding and advancing cross-cultural artistic exchange, with significant implications for the development of multiculturalism.

The symposium opened with a keynote by Mr. Moritz, former Poet Laureate of Toronto, who reflected on cultural differences and shared vivid memories of his two visits to China, as well as his insights into poetry and literary translation. Mississauga’s inaugural Poet Laureate, Xingzi Anna, performed her multimedia poetic works, accompanied by guitarist Mark Harry. Gutu, a Chinese scholar and poet, presented on “Image and Sound: Comparative Aesthetics in Chinese and Western Poetry,” analyzing poetic expression across classical and modern languages.

Western poets then took the floor, presenting their own works and engaging deeply with the symposium’s theme. Notable participants included Allan Briesmaster (poet, editor, and publisher), Bunny Iskov (founder of the Ontario Poetry Society), Diana Manole (poet, translator, and lecturer), Patrick Connors (poet and event organizer), Paul Edward Costa (poet and Mississauga’s third Poet Laureate), and Renee M. Sgroi (poet and critic), all of whom affirmed the value and necessity of such a symposium.

From the Chinese side, poet and medical doctor Dr. Jiang Ni raised an insightful question: “Thank you to the organizers for bridging Chinese and Western cultures. Chinese classical poetry is often rhythmic and meant to be chanted—do English poems also have rhythm?” Engineer and poet Hubian followed with a universal theme: “Beyond rhyme and meter, I see no fundamental difference in poetic artistry—human nature is shared across cultures.”

Poets Qiuye, Feihong, and Yushe spoke in both Chinese and English on how traditional Chinese poetry could be innovatively reimagined, while Qingchengzi explored the dynamic between material and spiritual elements in Eastern and Western poetics. The room came alive with over forty minutes of spirited discussion, as attendees freely shared perspectives and creative visions.

In a touching moment near the close of the event, several participants—including musician and poet Zhang Xiangyu, Dr. Paul (a Canadian educator with over 30 years of experience), Wang Yuexiang (Vice President of a university literature society), Luo Yangfu (President of the Toronto Guizhou Association and Principal of Shuangkuai Chinese School)—expressed a desire to continue the conversation even after the group photo, hoping to share more about their journeys in Chinese and Western poetic creation.

The symposium concluded with powerful readings and performances by Zhao Youling (Researcher at the Academy of Innovation and Development, Eurasian Academy of Sciences), Jenny Gao and Yang Yang (from the Canadian Recitation Arts Troupe), Ai Xue (Director of the Canada-China International Cultural Artists Association), An Wensheng (Vice President of the Shaanxi Association), host Xiangzi, and Toronto’s own “Nightingale” Lily Li. Their evocative recitations and emotionally rich songs brought the event to a resonant and heartfelt close.

immersed in the beauty of lyrical moments and artistic grace.

Poetry is the blooming garden of civilization, the secret code of moonlight and sunlight.

Starlight dances to the rhythm between heaven and earth—

a call from the depths of the human soul.

Within the poetry of time and life,

we seek a timeless fusion of poetic essence.

Unique realms of imagery and unwavering cultural roots

form a spiritual haven where the universe and humanity are intertwined—

a destined home for the future of humankind.

《In This Shared Light》

In this room where words once danced

off pages of lavender dreams,

where March winds carried

stories of distant stars and silent powers—

we gather again,

not as speakers,

but as listeners

to the soft, steady hum of poetry

threading East and West.

A brushstroke, a breath—

we do not build bridges with banners,

but with quiet stanzas,

shared tea,

and the gentle pause before a line lands.

Here, ink becomes a meeting place.

Here, difference is not a distance

but a rhythm to be held.

We have written from the cold of maple winds,

from the hush of Mandarin lullabies,

from alleys in Xi’an and lakes in Muskoka.

Some of us write with trembling hands.

Some of us write because

we are still learning how to speak

in any language

that understands longing.

Yet somehow—

across time zones, skin tones,

accents and idioms—

we arrive at the same silence

between words,

where meaning waits

like a bird in early light.

Poetry is not a monument—

it’s a moment.

Not a flag—

but a flame passed hand to hand.
