Over the past few weeks, our K2C learners have been busy exploring growth and change in the most creative and meaningful ways! From imagining themselves as grown-ups and even elderly, to planning for graduation and dreaming about primary school, it’s been a joyful journey of looking forward while celebrating who we are now.

In this issue, you’ll see:

🌟 Our inspiring Adult & Elderly Timeline Poster

📝 Our thoughtful Responsibility Booklet, page by page

🎓 The creative Graduation Frame Plan and the students’ own decorated frames

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A look back at our Student-Led Conference

🏫 Wonderful Primary School Drawings imagining the future

📚 Plus our continued adventures with RAZ Reading!

We’re so proud of all the big ideas and big steps our little learners are taking. Enjoy this peek into our learning journey!

Check it out!

Our K2C timeline poster is complete , it beautifully shows how our students see themselves growing and changing, from today’s little learners to their dreams for adulthood and even into old age. A celebration of big imaginations and big futures!

Next, let’s take a look at our students’ Responsibility Booklets!

As part of this inquiry project, the children have been working page by page over the past few weeks, reflecting on how their responsibilities have grown and changed.

The first page, “When I was little…”, shows what they could or could not do as younger children. For example, some students drew and wrote about needing help to eat their food or sleeping with Mum and Dad.

On the second page, “Now I can…”, students proudly reflected on their new skills and independence , from eating with chopsticks by themselves, to brushing their own teeth, or sleeping on their own.

This simple but meaningful project has helped the children see how much they have grown and the new responsibilities they take on as they get older.

We also had a wonderful discussion about why people graduate. Here are some of our students’ thoughtful ideas:

✨ Jayden: “To move up. No graduation, you can’t move up!”

✨ Jacob: “Because we will go to a new school.”

Together, we reflected on what graduation means and why it is an important milestone. The children even had a chance to look at Teacher Jamie’s own graduation as a comparison , helping them understand how graduation marks a special step forward, no matter how big or small!

Then we moved on to our exciting Graduation Frame Project!

The first part of this project invited students to create their very own plan for how they wanted to decorate and design their graduation frames. They thought carefully about the colours, styles, and where to place special decorations. Many children even decided what words or phrases they wanted on their frames, like “Meiyu 2025” or “Graduation” , making each frame unique and meaningful.

It was a joyful way for our students to express their creativity and celebrate this big milestone in their own special way!

Then we moved on to the second part of the project — painting 🎨🖌️!

Each student carefully painted their base frame, bringing their plans to life with the colours and designs they chose. It was wonderful to see their ideas take shape, and everyone took such pride in matching their frames to their original plans!

The third part of our project was all about adding the final touches!

Students decorated their frames with carefully chosen embellishments and used letters to spell out the special words they wanted, messages to cherish and celebrate their graduation in their own unique way.

Each frame is now a beautiful keepsake, full of creativity, pride, and excitement for the future!

Here are the final looks , complete with photos inside to commemorate each student’s time here at Meiyu!

These beautiful frames hold not only their proud faces but also wonderful memories to be cherished forever. A perfect reminder of their journey, their growth, and all the special moments they’ve shared together.

Next, K2C were tasked with imagining and creating what their future primary school might look like!

Students showed such wonderful creativity, drawing how their new school buildings might look from the outside, with big gates, colourful walls, playgrounds and gardens. It was inspiring to see their bright ideas and excitement for this next big step!

We also held a special Student-Led Conference, giving students the chance to showcase their learning and projects to their families!

This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to take pride in sharing their work, explaining their ideas, and reflecting on their progress, especially focusing on their inquiry units and their English learning with me. For my colleagues, this was also a valuable chance to highlight the students’ growing skills in Mandarin and Maths. Together, it was a celebration of how far our learners have come across all areas!

📚 RAZ & Jolly Phonics 📚

In this last section, we celebrate K2C’s dedication to their reading activities! Each morning, our students show determination and routine by reading their decodable RAZ books, proudly noting how many they have completed each day on our RAZ chart.

Alongside this, they’ve been enjoying segmenting and spelling activities using their own whiteboards — an activity they absolutely adore! This hands-on practice has given them so much encouragement to do well, earn stars and stickers, and become even more confident readers and writers.

It has truly been a special unit, and as we near the end of the school year, we feel so proud of the cherished memories our K2C students have created together. What a journey they have been on and what a joy it has been to see just how grown up they have become!

✨ Thank you for reading and for supporting their learning every step of the way! ✨
