观音山国家森林公园

心镜

Gazing afar, I saw the sky as blue as washed, with clouds floating lightly like immortals waving their sleeves, leisurely and free.

Stepping along the sidewalk, you find the paved road smooth and unobstructed. Yet few pedestrians were seen, with only forest birds chirping, which made the scene more peaceful and secluded. Along the way, resting pavilions and signposts are neatly arranged, extremely convenient for visitors.

After walking several li, you may find the scenery of Number One Scholar Culture coming into view. The Number One Scholar Corridor winds through the forest, and the Number One Scholar Pavilion’s upturned eaves seem to soar into the air. Inscribed poems praise the talents of ancient sages. Wooden signs and corridor pillars are tied with red silk ribbons, inscribed with wishes like “Number One Scholar in the Imperial Exam”, “Top in the College Entrance Examination”, “Perfect Couple”, and “All Things Go Well”, to mention just a few. The printouts carry profound hopes. Heart-shaped locks hang densely on the railings, interlacing copper and iron, locking in worldly affections. It seems that countless lovers swore here, hoping for lifelong unity.

At the mountain square, shaped like a winnowing basket, you may find it embracing visitors. There is a set of stairs so steep as if you were reaching the clouds. Climbing up, you may arrive at the Guanyin Square, where a majestic golden statue of Buddha stands. With a kind gaze, she overlooks all living beings, as if bathing them in Buddha’s halo, calming their minds. Beside it, at a lower location, the vegetarian restaurant wafts with the aroma of vegetarian food. Inside, the tofu is as white as jade, and seasonal vegetables are fresh, offering a pure and harmonious beauty, washing away worldly worries.

Half a day’s tour passed quickly, yet the charm of landscapes, depth of culture, and sincerity of wishes all settled in my heart. This mountain, incorporating humanistic heritage in natural beauty, is truly a perfect place to cleanse the mind and refresh the spirit. On the way downwards, when I looked back at the mountains, my heart still yearned for it.
