<p class="ql-block">《Happy Enough Are We Today》</p><p class="ql-block">2015</p><p class="ql-block">-</p><p class="ql-block">Happy enough are we today,</p><p class="ql-block">For joyful things we can proclaim,</p><p class="ql-block">And sing with glee: “Buddy, come aboard, let us sail!”</p><p class="ql-block">We, the team, a rookie band,</p><p class="ql-block">Rooted deep in earth’s firm sand,</p><p class="ql-block">Our trunk reaching high to heaven’s grand.</p><p class="ql-block">Rising up, though novices we be,</p><p class="ql-block">Pure and clear as water, free,</p><p class="ql-block">Gathering into a mighty stream,</p><p class="ql-block">Each one bearing a spoonful’s dream.</p><p class="ql-block">So this is the happy thing today.</p><p class="ql-block">For years, they’ve preached of work’s divide—</p><p class="ql-block">Work hard or smart, they’d oft decide.</p><p class="ql-block">But now, no longer mere debate,</p><p class="ql-block">In this market, it’s create or fade.</p><p class="ql-block">No choice remains ‘twixt toil or wit—</p><p class="ql-block">Non-working-hard is non-existence’s hit;</p><p class="ql-block">No-working-smart, the same grim fate.</p><p class="ql-block">Competitors swarm at every gate,</p><p class="ql-block">Like sand upon the shoreline vast,</p><p class="ql-block">From mid-mountains to plains that cast,</p><p class="ql-block">To the great sea east where the sun does rise,</p><p class="ql-block">Cell phone giants fill the skies.</p><p class="ql-block">Here in Shanghai, they’re ever near—</p><p class="ql-block">With this customer, they appear;</p><p class="ql-block">With that customer, still they stand;</p><p class="ql-block">Even flying to distant lands,</p><p class="ql-block">They shadow us, unyielding, bold.</p><p class="ql-block">Yet they’re no giants, strong and old,</p><p class="ql-block">Nor we frail grass, bent by a breeze.</p><p class="ql-block">They’re not eagles soaring with ease,</p><p class="ql-block">Nor we lone sparrows, lost, forlorn,</p><p class="ql-block">No food, no water, no path to be borne.</p><p class="ql-block">Their foundation’s dust, by us undone,</p><p class="ql-block">Crushed beneath our united run.</p><p class="ql-block">Let us never act from fear’s cold grip,</p><p class="ql-block">But never fear to dare, to slip.</p><p class="ql-block">Divided, our deeds are small and few;</p><p class="ql-block">United, no challenge can’t we subdue.</p><p class="ql-block">When six bugs we thought we’d mend,</p><p class="ql-block">The sixteenth passed, yet we didn’t bend.</p><p class="ql-block">When five demands we planned to meet,</p><p class="ql-block">The fifteenth rose, yet we didn’t retreat.</p><p class="ql-block">When we thought sole vendors we’d be,</p><p class="ql-block">A crowd of rivals met our decree.</p><p class="ql-block">But we kept marching, undeterred,</p><p class="ql-block">Nothing could stop us—our spirits stirred.</p><p class="ql-block">So this is the happy thing today.</p><p class="ql-block">It’s not vain to rise at dawn’s first light,</p><p class="ql-block">Nor to toil beneath the stars of night.</p><p class="ql-block">He who sows in tears shall reap in joy,</p><p class="ql-block">As God spoke: from dust we rise, to dust we’ll coy.</p><p class="ql-block">We know not what trials lie ahead,</p><p class="ql-block">Nor what shadows may fill us with dread.</p><p class="ql-block">But it matters not, for we’ve climbed the peak,</p><p class="ql-block">Looked o’er the land where promises speak.</p><p class="ql-block">A land God vowed, where glory shines,</p><p class="ql-block">Where struggle binds our hearts’ designs.</p><p class="ql-block">Together we march, to that land we go,</p><p class="ql-block">To see the Lord’s light, to let our spirits grow.</p><p class="ql-block">So this is the happy thing today.</p>
