LILI CHENG

A Journey Through Poetry: Lakeside Cultural Gathering by the Canada-China International Association of Cultural Artists — Featuring Canadian Romantic Writer “Sisi Tesser”

📍Lakeshore, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

🗓️ May 19, 2025 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

On May 19, 2025, the Canada-China International Association of Cultural Artists hosted a heartwarming lakeside gathering in Mississauga’s Lakeshore Park titled “A Journey Through Poetry.” The event brought together literature and art enthusiasts from Toronto and was joined by guest performers from the Philippines and a diverse group of attendees — from seniors to youth.

As the sun rose, everyone sat on the grass, engaging in heartfelt exchanges on poetry writing, recitation techniques, folk dance instruction, and classical music performance. Distinguished speakers included Yan Fei, President of the Canadian Chinese Writers Association; Li Bin, a board member of the Translators Association; and poet Jiang Nan. Each shared their creative journeys in an emotional and inspiring way, sparking deep resonance and encouraging many to recite their own poems aloud.

One of the most touching moments was when music composer Jing Li, performing in a wheelchair, played the electric melodica. Moved by the moment, the crowd spontaneously held hands and joined in a chorus of “Listen to Mom’s Stories of the Past,” their voices and her music echoing through the warmth of spring — a truly unforgettable scene.

At noon, attendees enjoyed music, delicious food, sweets, and drinks, savoring the many flavors of life. The afternoon unfolded with spontaneous performances, games, raffles, and photography sessions — laughter and joy filled the air. Especially memorable were the solo performances by four talented Filipino singers, whose voices received thunderous applause and left a lasting impression.

As the sun began to set, groups of attendees strolled along the scenic paths filled with birdsong and blooming flowers. The day concluded in a poetic and serene atmosphere, with every step feeling like walking through a living poem.

✨ Special thanks to all the participating groups, performers, photographers, sound engineers, volunteers, and guests who selflessly supported this event.

Event coverage by: Liu Siyuan

🎉 Congratulations to the Canada-China International Association of Cultural Artists on the successful lakeside gathering in Mississauga! 🎉🎉🎉

🙏 With gratitude to President Liu and all organizers, sponsors, and volunteers. In Chinese culture, water symbolizes wisdom and mountains represent compassion; their dialogue represents the interplay between the wise and the benevolent.
