We do not share gums. We do not share straws."</p><p class="ql-block">* Book: "I Can"</p><p class="ql-block">* Sentence strips (or whiteboard) with: "I can run. I can jump. I can hop. I can swing. I can ride. I can play."(ask the students to stand up and do the action of jump,run (in place) and hop. </p><p class="ql-block">* Whiteboard and marker</p><p class="ql-block">* Educational Television </p><p class="ql-block">* Pictures of: sub, quilt, Sun, stop, puppy, queen from the book.</p><p class="ql-block">* Worksheet A: Missing letter ( _ub, to)B: Fill in the missing word (puppy, Sun, Queen, quilt, cats) with example sentences.</p><p class="ql-block">Lesson Flow (Approx. 25-30 minutes):</p><p class="ql-block">1. (5 mins) "We Do Not Share" Review: Briefly review the book "We Do Not Share," emphasizing the items we don't share. Read the review sentences together.</p><p class="ql-block">2. (5 mins) "I Can" Book & Sharing:</p><p class="ql-block"> * Read "I Can."</p><p class="ql-block"> * Read the "I can" sentences together.</p><p class="ql-block"> * Ask: "What things can you do?" Have a few students share their "I can" statements (e.g., "I can swim," "I can sing," "I can dance"). Write a few examples on the whiteboard.</p><p class="ql-block">3. (8 mins) Letter Review & Beginning Sounds:</p><p class="ql-block"> * Review letters P, Q, R, S, T on the whiteboard.</p><p class="ql-block"> * For each letter, ask for a word that starts with that letter (use your examples if students struggle: Q - Queen, quack; P - stop, cup; R - rabbit; S - sun, snake).</p><p class="ql-block"> * Show the picture slideshow (sub, quilt, Sun, stop, puppy, queen). For each picture, ask: "What's this? What's the first sound you hear?"</p><p class="ql-block">4. (7-10 mins) Worksheet Activity:</p><p class="ql-block"> * Worksheet A (Missing Letter): Explain they need to write the missing first letter to complete the word.</p><p class="ql-block"> * Worksheet B (Missing Word): Explain they need to read the sentence and choose the correct word from the box to fill in the blank.
