也许对很多人来说，她只是一个宠物

我从小就挺喜欢宠物，尤其是🐈‍⬛，但我却对🐈‍⬛了解不多。

曾听人说过夜猫子这个词，也听人说过为食猫（需要用广东话来说）这个词，不过我一直没太在意当中的意思，更没想过为什么是🐈‍⬛，而不是🐕‍🦺，或🐓，或🐷等家禽。

最近与领养的流浪猫“朱古力”的互动活动中，让我深入体会到这两个词的含义。因此前几天还特地在网上搜索这两个词，得出以下的解释：

为食猫详解

- 最地道说法，"为食"在粤语中就是"贪吃"的意思

- 例句：

- "你呢只为食猫，成日偷食我啲鱼！"（你这只贪吃猫，老是偷吃我的鱼！）

- "睇佢个为食样，真系典型为食猫"（看它贪吃的样子，真是典型的馋猫）

夜猫子详解

- 指习惯熬夜的人

- 字面意思：夜间活动的猫

- 实际含义：形容经常熬夜、夜晚精神特别好的人

- 例句：

- "你天天凌晨3点睡，真是个夜猫子！"

- "夜猫子们，今晚准备熬到几点？"

是的，我家的朱古力，是一个名副其实的夜猫子，白天大部分时间都在睡觉，一到晚上就活跃起来，砰砰跳跳，跑得贼快，根本无法捉住她。

她是一个拥有高超技能的跳高选手，我亲眼看着她，从地面上轻轻一跳就到达1.2米高的橱柜上。

她也是典型的为食猫，看到我与太太在吃东西，一定会不停的绕着我们身边转，还不断的喵喵叫。

待吃完了我们给她的食物，她就躲到一边去，不在缠着我们，也不再叠叠声的叫了。好一个现实主义的🐈‍⬛，也许生活在这个现实的社会里，本就应该如此。

悄悄告诉你，她喜欢吃海鲜，包括虾以各种鱼，不喜欢猪肉与鸡肉。遇到这样一只馋嘴的，却又这么挑食的猫，我与太太真拿她没办法。

对我与太太来说，这种体会可真是一次新的经历。其实，我们同时也在与她的互动过程中，学习如何与她相处。

也许对很多人来说，她只是一个宠物，尽管如此，她是一个生命。在目前我们生活的现实社会里，她与我们每个人一样，应该受到尊重。。

I always liked pets since I was a child, in particular 🐈‍⬛, but I never knew much about them.

I’d heard the term "nocturnal cat" before, as well as the Cantonese phrase "foodie cat" . But I never paid much attention to their meanings, let alone wondered why they’re associated with 🐈‍⬛ instead of 🐕‍🦺, 🐓, or 🐖.

Recently, through interacting with our adopted stray cat, KitKat, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of these two expressions. A few days ago, I even looked them up online & found the following explanations:

Foodie Cat Explained

- The most authentic Cantonese expression

- Foodie means greedy for food

- Examples:

- "You foodie cat, always stealing my fish!"

- "Look at its greedy face, such a typical foodie cat!"

Nocturnal Cat Explained

- Refers to someone who stays up late

- Literal meaning: A cat active at night

- Actual meaning: Describes someone who often stays up late & is full of energy at night

- Examples:

- "You sleep at 3 am everyday, such a nocturnal cat!"

- "Nocturnal cat, how late are you staying up tonight?"

Yes, our KitKat is truly a nocturnal cat. She sleeps during daytime but becomes super active at night, running around at lightning speed where there’s no way to catch her.

She’s also a highly skilled high jumper. I’ve seen her leap effortlessly from the floor up to a 1.2 m high kitchen cabinet.

And she’s a classic foodie cat. Whenever my wife & I are eating, she circles around us nonstop, meowing persistently.

But as soon as we give her food & she finishes it, she retreats to a corner, no longer pestering us or meowing incessantly. What a pragmatic 🐈‍⬛! But then again, maybe that’s just how one should be in this realistic world.

Do allow me to share a secret to you about KitKat. She loves seafood, shrimp & all kinds of fish. But she dislikes pork & chicken. Frankly, dealing with such a picky yet gluttonous cat leaves my wife & me helpless.

For us, taking care of her this has been a whole new experience. Actually through interacting with her, we’re also learning how to coexist together under one roof.

To many, she might just be a pet, but she’s still a living being. In today’s society, she deserves respect, just like everyone of us..
