Your lovely daughters might breathe the peat’s sliced freshness, tinged with brine. Stone circles and blackhouse villages guard mysteries like Gaelic itself—once, a Gaelic title in Heaney’s verse nearly killed me, with no dictionary, maybe you’ll learn the tongue for us. Tell me soon, too: is gannet good to eat? Though I know the mainland’s just a larger island, we stand on our own isles, casting shimmering spider silks, trying to weave a net to catch—something. But Stornaway, the lone town, and ten thousand sparse islanders makes me fear your loneliness will crack like a flame through walls. He has visited many world cities – including Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore. He now lives with his wife and two youngest daughters in the Cheshire countryside, United Kingdom, running Open Shutter Press and working on a new collection of his own poetry. His work has featured in British journals such as PN Review and The Rialto, while his poems also appear in anthologies from 1-2-3 Press, Candlestick Press and The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press.
