We are well under way with our animals unit, and Aurora class have shown what good little inquirers they are.

With Teacher Harry, the students have been looking at the rainforest. We learned several things about the rainforest, before looking at how animals are adapted to living in the rainforest.

We say different rainforest animals have colours and patterns. Aurora class had to be thinkers as to why these animals have their colours and patterns.

After this, Aurora class explored around the school to find patterns. We found patterns on walls, floors, clothes, toys and so many other places.

Next the students had to design their own patterns to apply to parrots and snakes

They had to follow their plans to compete their patterns. These are some of their finished designs.

Next we thought about how a pattern could help an animal to hide in the rainforest. We planned patterns using colours to help a snake to hide.

Teacher Maria has helped the students to learn the time and how to read a clock.

Teacher Cossy has looked at different environments animals live in. She has helped the students to create models of their chosen environments

Teacher Cossy has also prepared lots of classification activities to push students critical thinking skills

We have also been caring for our different animals in class. Some students helped to feed the baby silkworms we have

Some of Aurora class showed themselves to be risk takers when we had Teacher Cossy’s lizard at school!

and of course, it is the run up to the festive season, so we have had lots of fun on Friday this week with themed crafts and games
