用英语讲故事——The Farmer's Treasure (农夫的宝藏)

Once upon a time, there was a diligent farmer who had a large piece of land and could harvest a lot of grain every year. But his three sons were lazy and gluttonous.

从前，有一个勤劳的农夫，他有一大片土地，每年都能收获许多粮食。但是他的三个儿子却好吃懒做。

The farmer often educated them, hoping that they could learn to work. However, the three children never took their father's words to heart and still indulged in eating, drinking and having fun.

农夫经常教育他们，希望他们能学会劳动。可是，那三个孩子从来也不把父亲的话放在心上，照样吃喝玩乐。

As days passed by, the farmer gradually grew old. He had a premonition that he was about to die.

日子一天天过去了，农夫渐渐老了。他预感到自己就要死了。

So, the farmer said to his three sons, "Children, I have buried all my treasures in our field. After I die, you can dig them up." After saying that, the farmer left the world.

于是，农夫对三个儿子说：“孩子们，我把我所有的财宝都埋在了咱们家的田地里，等我死后，你们就把它挖出来吧。”说完，农夫就离开了人世。

The three brothers buried their father properly and then took hoes and came to the field. They turned over the whole field, but found nothing.

三个兄弟安葬好父亲，就拿着锄头来到了地里。他们把整块田地都翻了一遍，可什么也没得到。

"Father wouldn't deceive us. It must be that we didn't look carefully enough." The elder brother said to his two younger brothers. 

“父亲不会骗我们的，一定是我们找的不够仔细。”哥哥对两个弟弟说。

So, the three brothers took shovels and dug again. However, they searched every corner of that field and still found nothing.

于是，三兄弟又拿着铁锹挖了起来。可是，他们找遍了那块田地的每个角落，还是一无所获。

The sowing season arrived, and the three brothers had to sow seeds in this field.

播种的季节到了，三兄弟只好在这片田地里播下种子。

When the harvest season came, because the field had been turned over several times by the three brothers, the land became extremely soft, and the harvested grain was much more than in previous years.

收获的季节来了，由于这片田地已经被三兄弟翻了好几遍，土地变得特别松软，收获的粮食也比往年多得多。

The three brothers took these grains to the market and sold them at a good price. 

三兄弟把这些粮食拿到市场上，卖了个好价钱。

 Looking at those shiny gold coins, the three brothers finally understood that the treasure their father had mentioned was actually "hard work".

看着那些闪亮的金币，三兄弟终于明白了，父亲所说的财宝，其实就是“辛勤的劳动”

From then on, the three brothers were no longer lazy but became more diligent. They had harvests every day and also distributed grain to some poor families. They became more and more diligent and finally became very rich men.

从此他们三兄弟不再懒惰，而是更加勤劳，以后每天都有收获，还把粮食分给了一些穷人家。他们越来越勤劳，最后成了大富翁。
