20px;">根据"沈阳工人村生活馆"史料记载，1952年9月23日，"工人村"建设工程开工。当年的副市长焦若愚在"开工典礼"上说道：随着生产的发展，今后将有更多的"工人村"出现。当天，7000多名建筑工人联名给毛主席写信，誓言"盖好工人村"、"让咱们的阶级兄弟早一天搬进去"，决心在保证工程质量前提下，提前完成任务。那时，"工人村"建筑工地流行一首歌曲，歌中唱道："和平花朵遍地开，座座楼房盖起来，昨天还是荒野草地，几天就让他楼成排。"歌声中，建筑工地上"劳动竞赛"场面热火朝天。1952年12月，经过仅仅两个半月的艰苦奋战，工人村一期工程宣告竣工，建筑面积达10.8408万平方米的79栋大楼、3396间家属宿舍和独身宿舍拔地而起，创造了当年沈阳建筑史上的奇迹。 此后，从1952年到1957年，又陆续建造了64栋大楼。至此，"工人村"共计143栋大楼，形成5个建筑群。这些住宅大楼，清一色的红砖砌筑、起脊灰瓦闷顶、楼高三层，房檐之下饰有三层叠涩线条，楼门上有回纹、券顶装饰。每栋楼层一般均有3个房门，正中房间为"三阳"式，正中为卫生间、厨房，左、右为卧室，左侧卧室还有一小间储存室；左、右卧室均有双开门，门外为两端立柱的小阳台。工人村的房间内，有自来水、下水、煤气、暖气、厕所。"工人村"按照前苏联标准设计建造，形成占地面积73万平方米、建筑面积40万平方米的苏式风格建筑群。工人村建筑规划是解放后沈阳市第一个完整的城市建设规划，城市基础设施配套齐全。建筑物之间留有充足的绿化地带、景点。中小学校、幼儿园、百货、副食商店、饭店、照相馆、卫生院、粮站、邮电支局、储蓄所等基础服务设施完善。当时人们形容工人村是"高楼平地起，条条柏油路；路旁柳成荫，庭院花姿俏"。工人村建成后，有轨电车延伸到工人村，又新开辟204路公共汽车，交通非常方便。铁西工人村的建筑闻名全国，它不仅标志着沈阳市职工住宅水平的提高，更体现了党和政府对工人阶级的关怀，使获得解放、当家作主人的广大工人群众深切体会到新社会的温暖和新生活的幸福。工人村的兴建引起国内外各方面人士的关注，成为沈阳市长期接待外国人的窗口，到90年代初，共接待了近50个国家和地区的客人参观。</span></p>
