豫章故郡，洪都新府。

This is the ancient county of Yuzhang,

Now it is new Capital of Hongdu.

星分翼轸，地接衡庐。

It is located in the area of the two stars of Yi and Zhen,

Bordering Mount Heng and Mount Lu.

襟三江而带五湖，

Three Rivers as the collar and Five Lakes as the belt,

控蛮荆而引瓯越。

Control of Manjing district and connect to Ouyue region.

物华天宝，龙光射牛斗之墟；

The elites of things are the treasures from heaven,

Dragon of Light on fields between Altair and Dipper.

人杰地灵，徐孺下陈蕃之榻。

The place is located in outstanding people,

Xu Ruzi stayed at the room of the prefect Chen Fan.

雄州雾列，俊采星驰，

Grand county rises like mist in dense clusters,

and outstanding officials emerge in droves like stars.

台隍枕夷夏之交，

The city occupies the land of Jingchu and Huaxia,

宾主尽东南之美。

The host and guests are all elites from the southeast region.

都督阎公之雅望，棨戟遥临；

Commander Yan Gong is High reputation

Come afar with guards and banners leading the way.

宇文新州之懿范，襜帷暂驻。

Yuwen Governor of Xin County is virtuous,

Staying briefly with a carrige.

十旬休假，胜友如云；

Catch up with the ten-day-cycle off holiday,

A great talented friends show up like clouds;

千里逢迎，高朋满座。

Welcomingnoble guests from thousands of miles away,

Here are packed with the famous friends.

腾蛟起凤，孟学士之词宗；

Powerful verses leap like dragons and fly like phoenixes.

Such is the master of a literary classic–Scholar Meng.

紫电清霜，王将军之武库。

Famed swords like Purple-Lightning and Clear-Frost,

Which come from General Wang's arsenal.

家君作宰，路出名区；

Due to my father being a county magistrate in Jiaozhi,

I passed by this famous place on my way to visit him.

童子何知，躬逢胜饯。

I am young and naive, what can I know?

but lucklily attend this grand feast in person.
