<p class="ql-block">Over the last few weeks our students in K1A have been practicing hard for our performance. </p> <p class="ql-block">Teacher Cici’s show was all about different types of birds. As K1A has looked at lots of different birds and their adaptations, it was a good topic to design her show around</p> <p class="ql-block">First K1A looked at lots of types of birds to think about which ones they found interesting.</p> <p class="ql-block">Next she came to deciding the show? Who would play which part? K1A had the chance to volunteer for Cici’s show and audition for the part they thought was most interesting to them!</p> <p class="ql-block">One the parts were decided, it was time to start practicing the dance movements</p> <p class="ql-block">We rehearsed each week, leading up to dress rehearsals the week before the show</p> <p class="ql-block">This all lead up to the final performance in from to our parents!</p> <p class="ql-block">Our little hosts took to the stage to tell everyone what the show was about </p> <p class="ql-block">Teacher Ally is an expert at using books and stories as a method to conduct inquiry. She is often reading to our class during her circle times.</p> <p class="ql-block">Teacher Ally used this as a beginning point to plan her show. One story the students enjoyed was the story of “the glove”</p> <p class="ql-block">To help the students practice performing in front of an audience and build their confidence. Fridays have been a performance day for our K1A students.</p> <p class="ql-block">With this practice, the students gained the confidence to perform their own story in front of a big audience.</p> <p class="ql-block">before the final show, Ally asked the students their ideas about what makes a good show.</p> <p class="ql-block">Then it was time to get ready to perform!</p> <p class="ql-block">Their hosts took to the stage to tell everyone about their show</p> <p class="ql-block">Followed by Teacher Harry to play the role of the old granddad!</p> <p class="ql-block">Teacher Harry chose to look back to the body unit for his performance. At the beginning of our time in K1A we learned about the things our bodies can do.</p> <p class="ql-block">From the bodies unit we discovered so many things our bodies can do. Teacher Harry started by asking what things K1A can do.</p> <p class="ql-block">K1A told him they could do so many things!</p> <p class="ql-block">Harry designed his performance to show all kinds of different things K1A could use their bodies to do.</p> <p class="ql-block">First our hosts introduced the show</p> <p class="ql-block">Next our doctors took to the stage to tell us how sports and exercise keep us healthy</p> <p class="ql-block">Then it was time for K1A to show so many of their skills!</p> <p class="ql-block">Also, a big thank you to the teachers and parent volunteers for their assistance with make-up and preparations!</p>
