<p class="ql-block"><span style="color: rgb(176, 79, 187);">As the old English proverb says, “April Showers Bring May Flowers” and the students in Pre-School C are certainly blooming into curious and independent learners. So much so that it was decided that parents and grandparents should visit for an open morning and witness for themselves how much the children have learned during this UOI.</span></p> <p class="ql-block"><span style="color: rgb(176, 79, 187);">The morning started with a rendition of one of the classes favourite English songs, “Butterfly, Ladybug and Bumblebee”. The children used hand gestures to demonstrate the different way each insect moves and had no problem remembering all of the lyrics.</span></p> <p class="ql-block"><span style="color: rgb(176, 79, 187);">After showing off their English singing skills they were introduced to the different classrooms learning stations; Kitchen Roleplay, Plant Rubbings, Leaf Observation, and Making Mosquito Repellent Sachets. The children had the chance to decide which one they wanted to explore with their grandparents first. </span></p> <p class="ql-block"><span style="color: rgb(176, 79, 187);">Those that went to the Kitchen Roleplay had the chance to show off their English skills by explaining what delicious food they were going to prepare. They followed the key stages in preparing food; washing, peeling, cutting or chopping, and even which cutlery and crockery are required depending on the food being served.</span></p> <p class="ql-block"><span style="color: rgb(176, 79, 187);">The Plant Rubbing activity gave the children the chance to show their parents and grandparents how plants can be used to make wonderful art work by using just flowers, leaves, cloth and a hammer.</span></p> <p class="ql-block"><span style="color: rgb(176, 79, 187);">Being able to distinguish the differences between leaves has been a key part of the Unit particularly as our class silkworms are very fussy eaters and will only eat mulberry leaves! The children were able to show off this newly learnt skill at the Leaf Observation station.</span></p> <p class="ql-block"><span style="color: rgb(176, 79, 187);">Plants aren’t the only living things that love the sunny and rainy weather that Spring brings, mosquitos do to. So, what better way to fend off these pesky pests than to by using plants to make all natural Mosquito Repellent Sachets.</span></p> <p class="ql-block"><span style="color: rgb(176, 79, 187);">Everyone had a wonderful morning sharing and learning.</span></p>
