<p class="ql-block">刚刚过去的周三5月18日下午，在爱城唐人街接连发生两起命案，一名36岁恶徒，连续闯入两家商铺，不仅抢夺财物，更是痛下杀手，残忍杀害了两名华人！</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><b>根据监控和现场证人，该凶徒杀人手段令人发指，冷血无情，不计后果，根本不象正常人所为。联想五年前爱城四家毒品安全注射站，三家安排在唐人街，谁能说这之间毫无关系？！</b></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">爱城唐人街有上百年历史，曾经店家林立，顾客川流不息，是市民和游客常往之地，在全国也颇有名声。但曾几何时，她却每况愈下，伤痕累累，仿佛被人抛弃一般。</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">看看现在的唐人街，店面玻璃三天两头被打破，单换新就动辄四五千，店家更是不得不聘请保安公司自保，即使如此仍然不能摆脱被袭击的遭遇，这次店家店员更是惨遭毒手！</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">他们其中有已年过六十，在加拿大辛辛苦苦几十年，其中一位死者再过一年就能退休，可以享受晚年生活，也有工作经验丰富的员工正当努力工作养家活儿，不料却祸从天降，撒手人寰！</p> <b>我们必须要问，是什么导致了这样的结果？</b><br><br>——是分布极不公平的毒品注射站，让唐人街沦为瘾君子游荡之地！<br>——是治安资源的严重不平衡，让唐人街沦为犯罪滋生地！<br>——是市政府的长期漠视短视，让繁华无俩的唐人街走入了恶性循环！<br><br><b>我们要求爱城市政府：</b><br><br>——马上移除毒品注射站，还唐人街以安宁！<br>——重视和提高警方在唐人街的治安力量，不给恶人可趁之机！<br>——长远考虑唐人街的发展计划，恢复其往日繁华，给市民一个好去外，给来自世界各地的遊客一个特色游览观光地，政府多一个好财源！ <p class="ql-block">On May 18, 2022, two consecutive homicides occurred in Chinatown in Edmonton. Alongside this crime, the convict broke into two beloved shops in Chinatown. </p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><b>After committing the heinous crimes, the convict stayed behind and showed absolutely no remorse as he continued his drug and alcohol consumption. </b>The victims of the homicide were senior citizens and family-oriented men working hard to support their families. Neither of these victims deserved what happened to them.</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">Chinatown is a historical place filled with hundreds of valuable relics. With over one hundred shops, customers are constantly visiting the premise. It is also a popular tourist destination with lots of ongoing foot traffic. </p> However, the safety of these citizens and visitors are being threatened due to the worsening conditions surrounding Chinatown. Storefronts are vandalized frequently, even with the implementation of extra security measures. Damages are expensive to repair and the lack of support from the city government leaves Chinatown’s situation in a dire state.<br><br><b>This makes us think – what led to this result?</b><br><br>1. Three out of four existing drug injection stations in Edmonton are located in Chinatown which causes a rise in crimes<br>2. Chinatown lacks proper support as there is a serious imbalance of public security resources<br>3.
