There are two strategies for booking a place to stay while visiting Stanford:

Travel by Car or Renting a Car

Hotels near Palo Alto are usually more expensive and hard to find during Admitted Weekend or Family Weekend. It is easier to find hotels near Cupertino area. They are closer to most of the great Chinese food places and to the famous high tech companies like Apple, Google, Intel... You can check their website for the visiting locations and hours We stayed in Hilton Garden Inn in Cupertino before. We walk to the Cupertino Villages to buy breakfast from many Chinese restaurants before kids wake up. We also enjoy the late night snacks from Ranch 99 when we came back to the hotel after our day trip.

Travel by Uber/Lyft or Public Transportation

If you stay in Stanford area without a car, it is easier to find a hotel or Airbnb close to bus #22 There are also lots of hotels near Mountview area near bus #22: Here is the link for Stanford University shuttle for you to travel on campus:
