• 写在前面：

10月2日，天气预报有雨，只能宅在家里了，可是也没怎么下雨……无聊到各种刷朋友圈，看到有人去延庆摘板栗了，于是我跟孩子爸说我想去摘野板栗。孩子爸接到任务后，开始各种搜索各种咨询，最后跟我说，没有野板栗，板栗都是人种的，都得花钱的，不用花钱的就是没被逮住的……哈哈哈，好吧，被科普了~最后我们定位昌平区延寿镇黑山寨村，更具体一点就是过了黑山寨学校再过两个公共厕所，在第二个公共厕所旁边，有一条水泥路一直往上走，当然是交费了才让开车上去，五十元一位，米果这样的小朋友免费~老板说不限时不限量，带走100斤都行~于是被板栗支配的一天愉快的开始了~

3日一早没下雨，给力，赶紧出发！因为决定仓促，而且没有捡板栗的经验，就把家里各种夹子铲子网兜水枪雨衣雨靴全带上了，还有两个大袋子，唯独没找到厚手套……我们都非常兴奋，因为都是第一次去捡板栗，哈哈哈~

在车上用最快的速度通过必应把板栗采摘的课备好，然后开始跟米果科普，因为捡板栗的时候肯定顾不上。后来为了进一步拓展，我特意捡了几个带壳的回来，效果还不错。打卡一共四部分内容和四个亲子对话：

• Extend1：Chinese chestnut

Chinese chestnut (Castanea mollissima) is a deciduous tree that produces edible nuts in September and October. Chestnuts are well-known as a buttery, sweet treat in the winter. However, chestnuts are also very delicate.

板栗(Castanea mollissima)是一种落叶树，在9月和10月生产可食用的坚果。众所周知，在冬天，栗子是一种黄油味的甜食。然而，栗子也很精致。

To get the freshest ones available, you have to know the signs. Good chestnuts are easy to find just by looking at them and picking them up. If you have chestnut trees in your area, you could also go outdoors and collect wild ones to bring home.

There are many ways you can enjoy them, such as by roasting them or working them into soups, stuffings, deserts, and many other recipes.

• Extend2：Choosing Fresh Chestnuts

Find chestnuts that have a dark brown shell. Unripened chestnuts have a light coloring that makes them look pale next to better ones. Check the entire chestnut, particularly its top and bottom, for discolorations. Its shell should look pretty consistent. If it has spots that look yellow or a pale white, then put it back.

寻找有深棕色外壳的栗子。未成熟的栗子颜色较浅，与较好的栗子相比显得比较苍白。检查整个栗子，特别是顶部和底部，是否有变色。它的外壳看起来应该很一致。如果有黄色或淡白色的斑点，就把它放回去。

Every chestnut has a small patch on it where the actual nut is visible underneath the shell. It should be a uniform, light brown color. It won’t be as dark as the rest of the shell.

Spots are usually signs of mold, so throw away any chestnuts that look discolored. They spoil pretty quickly.

• Extend3：Foraging for Chestnuts

1. Wait for autumn to hunt for chestnuts.Chestnuts start ripening around the end of August. However, they don't all ripen at the same time, so you can find good ones for weeks after that. They are most common in September. You might be able to find a few in November as well.

2. Search for chestnuts that have fallen to the ground.

Chestnuts that are still hanging aren't ripe enough to eat, so you don't have to worry about reaching high branches. Just look for any spiky pods that have fallen to the ground. Check underneath the branches and around the trunk. They are green with noticeable spikes and, if they have cracked open, you will be able to see the brown chestnuts inside them.

Chestnut pods look like fuzzy, green balls. When they open, you will see brown nuts with a pointed end that has a little leafy "tail"on it.

3. Wear damage-resistant gloves while handling chestnut pods. If you have seen a chestnut pod, you know how sharp it is. To protect your hands, keep them covered until you're finished removing the nuts from their pods. The needles are sharp enough to put a hole in heavy gloves, so be careful.

For additional protection, double up your gloves. For example, wear rubber gloves over leather ones.

The pods are too sharp to handle by hand. If you don't have gloves, break open the pods first, such as by stepping on them, then carefully pick out the nuts.

4. Pull the chestnuts out of their pods to collect them. Search for pods that have split open first. Grip the open ends of the pods and pull them apart to reveal the nuts. Pull the nuts out, then move them to a collection basket or blanket. If you still have room for more chestnuts, you can go back and force open the pods that haven't split.

To open an unbroken pod, step on them. Place your feet on the sides and push down until the nuts start to pop out.

Even if the pod hasn't opened on its own, the nuts inside will usually still be fresh.

5. Inspect the chestnuts for mold, holes, and other signs of damage. Wild chestnuts have a dark, brown shell that shines when it's fresh. The nut should also feel firm, whole, and heavy for its size. Make sure the shell is intact, since worms and other forest animals can get into nuts that have been on the ground.

You won't find too many old nuts on the ground. Animals usually eat them before they have a chance to go bad. The main problem is holes from worms that have eaten through the shell.

Jaden, we arrived at Chestnut Garden. Can you find the green chestnut pods on the tree? Yes, but there are few in the trees. Oh, look at the ground, the chestnut pods had fallen to the ground. Because they are ripe enough to eat. And the ones still hanging are not ripe enough.

Let's take a closer look. Oh, most of these pods on the ground are empty. The chestnuts had popped out when the pods hit the ground. Look, I found a chestnut near the pod. It looks dark brown, so nice. Wow, you found a big one, show me, I will take a picture for you.

Now we are squirrels, let's hunt for more chestnuts. Let's check underneath the branches and around the trunk. Remeber that, when you hunt for chestnuts, you should find the ones that have a dark brown shell. And check the chestnut for mold, holes, and other signs of damage. If the chestnut has spots on it, it is moldy, throw away it. And don't pick the small nuts and old nuts, just drop them on the ground so animals can eat them.

Jaden, you can turn the pods with the pinchers, and you will find the chestnuts hide under the pods. Oh, look, I found a chestnut pod with nuts inside.

The chestnut pod looks like fuzzy, brown ball. Do you want to touch it? You try and you will know how sharp it is. How do you feel when you touch it? Yes, hurt, it's too sharp to handle by hand.

The nuts inside chestnut pods is fresher than the ones on the ground. But if you think it's hard for you to collect chestnuts from their pods, you can just collect the ones on the ground.

There's one more important thing, don't run around on the hill, it's easy to trip over and you will be hurt by the sharp chestnut pods. 在整个采摘过程中，米果就是个小猴子，到处乱跑乱爬乱窜，不知道摔了多少次，不知道被扎了多少次，晚上回家洗澡的时候发现胸口，膝盖，手腕都有被扎到的痕迹，可是他也不喊疼啊…… 我们“兢兢业业”捡了2个多小时，这个过程除了捡板栗，我们还摘了山楂，采了蘑菇，遇到了青蛙，看到了千足虫……你们知道板栗什么时候最好捡吗？就是你准备离开的时候。有好几次我们准备“收手”回家了，结果一低头发现满地都是板栗，然后又开始捡了起来，哈哈哈，我都怀疑是不是前面有人袋子破了……最后来看看我们的劳动成果，20斤左右，很不错，心满意足。 回家清理完板栗，再继续拓展一下。 比捡板栗更难的事情来了，就是要煮板栗和储存板栗。看到这20斤的板栗，我有点无从下手了，精疲力尽的我抗不住米果想吃板栗，泪目。于是去抖音看看快速剥板栗的方法，最后采用下面的方法：把板栗放在一个瓶盖上，拿到砍个十字口，然后下锅水煮，捞出来就很容易脱壳了。这个方法连板栗开口器都省了，但是那种圆咕隆咚的板栗只能随缘……好啦，香喷喷的板栗出炉啦，米果太给力了，一口一个~

• Extend4：Storing Chestnuts

1. Place the chestnuts in an unsealed paper bag. You don't have to wash them or peel them until you're ready to eat them. Keep them covered but unsealed so moisture doesn't accumulate inside of the bag. You could also use a ventilated bag or put them in a plastic bag left open at one end.

把栗子放在一个未密封的纸袋里。在准备吃之前，你不需要清洗或削皮。把它们盖住，但不要密封，这样水分就不会在袋子里堆积。你也可以用一个通风的袋子，或者把它们放在一个一端敞开的塑料袋里。

If you're planning on freezing chestnuts, place them in a resealable, freezer-safe container, such as a plastic freezer bag.

2. Store chestnuts in a paper bag in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. Fresh chestnuts should always be stored in the refrigerator set to about 34 °F (1 °C). Make sure they are in an unsealed bag labeled with the current date. To keep them fresh, place them inside a crisper drawer if you have one. When you're ready to use them, take them back out and clean them off.

Check the chestnuts on occasion for softness or mold. Throw away ones that have spoiled.Be aware of any signs of aging or mold. Chestnuts unfortunately don't stay fresh for very long, so try to use them as soon as possible.

3. Move chestnuts into a freezer-safe container to freeze for up to 3 months. Place them in a freezer-safe container. Label it with today’s date before packing it in the freezer. When you’re ready to use the chestnuts, take them back out. Leave them out at room temperature for about 3 to 4 hours if you need to thaw them out to use them.

Chestnuts can be frozen with or without their shells. They are easier to work with if they have been deshelled ahead of time. You could also freeze cooked chestnuts.

Chestnuts lose their texture in the freezer. Instead of roasting frozen chestnuts, try using them in recipes like for soups or cakes.

把孩子哄睡以后，我就要开始考虑如何储存板栗了~参考上面的储存方法，我分两种方法储存。

方法一：脱壳冷冻法，这部分板栗用来煮汤、做菜和做馅。先将板栗开口，然后用刚烧开的开水泡到水不烫手，然后开始挨个剥壳。我能说剥壳有瘾吗，一边看电视剧一边剥，不知不觉两大盘就出来了……代价就是第二天浑身乏力，请不要轻易尝试。

方法二：放纸袋封装冷藏。我把剩下的板栗装到纸袋封好，直接放冰箱冷藏，假期结束拿回单位送给同事，想吃的时候也可以现煮。 方法三：卖掉。我有个朋友4号一行3个人去摘了85斤，5元一斤卖了不少，本钱油钱都挣回来了，哈哈哈，商机，老板知道了会不会哭~
