As students build writing skills, they will work on writing basics such as forming simple and compound sentences. Also, they will use figurative language, metaphors, personification, and opinion writing. Students will build high frequency word recognition and use it to strengthen their reading and writing. They will review, revise, and edit their original writing pieces using a self-evaluation rubric.</p> <h1 style="text-align: center;"><b style="color: rgb(1, 1, 1);">3rd-4th Grade </b></h1><h1 style="text-align: center;"><b style="color: rgb(1, 1, 1);">1:pm - 2:00pm (Sunday)</b></h1><p class="ql-block" style="text-align: center;"><br></p><p class="ql-block">In this course, students will on three key areas of ELA: reading, writing and grammar. For the reading portion of this course, students will study a variety of literary styles including poetry, prose, drama, narrative, and informational texts. They will dissect these types of literature by looking at themes, patterns of events, cause/effect, problem/solution, point of view, context clues, inferences, and figurative language. For the writing portion of the course, students will write their own opinion writing, narrative, and informative pieces.
