The course emphasizes the thinking and problem solving ability that necessary to be successful in Algebra. The course helps students develop good algebra study skills and learning strategies. Students will explore algebra operations with integers, decimals, exponents, square roots, ratios, proportions and percentages. They will study variables and algebraic expressions, solving linear equations and inequalities, graphing linear functions, finding areas and volumes and so on. This course helps students develop basic mathematical understanding and they will see how mathematics applies to daily life. It will prepare students for Algebra in the future.It is a good basic course for the students who want to take AMC8. Textbooks：PreAlgebra: Pearson 5th edition /GoMath Advanced Algebra 1 Instructor: Dr. Liu Schedule: 6/7-7/122:00PM - 4:00PM (M/W/F) Target Students: 6 - 8 Grades This is a first Algebra course in which you will learn fundamental algebraic skills and applying them in variety problem-solving situations. Students will explore: solving systems of two linear equations in two unknowns. Solving quadratic equations by factoring, completing the square and quadratic formula. Solving quadratic inequalities.
