老家地名窑场，原有条青石板小街，成十字形，中间是集贸市场，周围拥有小商店、小作坊，还有一家由张老先生开设的药铺和一所利用民居开办的小学（正规小学是后来兴建的），是方圆近十个自然村的集散地。每天凌晨，赶集的村民纷至沓来，逢年过节，更是比肩接踵，熙熙攘攘。距沔城十里许，清澈的玉带河贯穿其间（如今淤塞断流），一座古老的木桥连通南北，两岸屋舍俨然，翠竹掩映，鸡鸭成群，河埠众多，捣衣阵阵，号子声声，渔人撒网，鸬鹚捕鱼，一派生机。后垸即是羊子四垸湖，沟渠纵横（如今不复存在），菱藕飘香，良田万亩，是祖祖辈辈赖以生存繁衍的沃土。</b></p>
