《The Fishman and His Soul》

Oscar Wilde writes this story.

He is born in 1854 in Dublin,lreland.Wilde is famous for his plays,stories and poetry.He dies a poor man in 1900.

A young fisherman one day catches a

mermaid in his fishing net and he falls in lo

with her.

The fisherman learns he cannot be with the

mermaid because he has a human soul.The fisherman then tries to send away his human soul.

The fisherman learns from a witch.

how to send his soul away.

The Fisherman goes to the Priest's house.

He wants him to send his soul ,but

The Prest sends the Fisherman away and he shuts his door.

Then,he wants to sell his soul to the merchants,but for the merchants it has no value.

At last,he goes to find a witch.The witch tells the secret of sending his soul.

During three years,the Soul comes back,too.He tempts the Fisherman with Wisdom,Riches and a beautiful dancer.The third year,the Soul succeeds.The Soul is part of him,again.They go to do some evil things.

The Fisherman is angry.He wants to cut away his shadow------the Soul.But he is fail.Because he can only do it once.

He comes back the seashore,and he calls his Mermaid.But the black waves are carrying a white body.It is the Mermaid's body.she is dead.

The Fisherman dies,too.Because he has strong love.

I read this story.Then I have some thinkings:

The Soul is poor,isn't evil.

The Fisherman is great,he thinks love is very important.

This story let me know the nature of love.
