China, an old country with rich culture and history，attracts this group of young people whose hearts are full of curiosity, to come to her. They are ready to embrace the difference of philosophy, management and living style in China.

中国，以她古老的文化，近期经济的飞速发展，独特的商业管理理念与模式吸引着这群充满了好奇心的年轻人。他们踏上了人生的第一次中国之旅，等待他们的将是全方位的新的体验！

Our first stop is at Yuanjia Village! Our goal this year is not just visit and have fun, but doing some research too.

今年又来袁家村，但是今年的任务不仅是参观，最主要是学习调研！

We hit the ground running! In order to make sure we have enough time to complete the research project for this program, the first stop for the whole trip is Yuanjia Villege. 

As a national "AAAA-Class" scenic area, the village won the tile of "China’s Most Attractive Leisure Village", "Famous Town or Village for Characteristic Landscape Tourism at National level" and "National Ecological and Cultural Village"and so on.

The village has collected the most traditional delicacies from Central Shaanxi Plain, most distinctive buildings and most ecological life style.

Besides all of these tourist features, what attracted us (businesses students) most is the strategies being adopted by the administration team of the village.What exactly did they , a small village of 60 households, do to generate 3 billion yuan a year? How do they survive the huge competition among competitors?

Everything is centrally planned and controlled in Yuanjiacun, from supply chain management to marketing plan.For my dear students who truly believe in free market economy, is this Something that is worth of researching? These questions appeared in my mind last summer when I took my students to visit the village. I made up my mind to have my students research on this topic for this summer. Now, here we are! They are divided into three groups, eachgroup is assigned a topic: marketing, supply chain, and human resource of Yuanjia village. They need to do as much research about the village before the trip and came up with questions for their interviews on site when they are at the village. They need to make a presentation by the endof the program! Yes, it is Challenging! Very much!

在西安，像袁家村这样的小村成百上千。但是袁家村的成功像迷一样吸引着海内外游客及学者来参观学习。

痤落在陕西省咸阳市礼泉县烟霞镇北面，举世闻名的唐太宗李世民昭陵九嵕山下，袁家村拥有着得天独厚的历史文化资源。借助于得天独厚的地理历史条件，袁家村迅速发展成为陕西地区著名的旅游村，那么她到底是个什么样的操作模式呢？

她主要针对城市里面高消费的人群，以及怀念农村风情的人们,为他们提供舒家常便饭，野菜，粗粮，给人们做出最营养的饭菜。当你走进古朴典雅的小巷，会立刻被两边各种店铺所吸引，踩着脚下仿古的青石板，欣赏着颇具关中风味的明清式建筑。家家都是农家乐，厨香萦绕。即使是刚用过餐的游人此时都会食欲大增，忍不住要尝一尝袁家村的绿色食品！

看着这么欣欣向荣的袁家村，你也许无法想象，二十世纪70年代之前的袁家村，是当地出了名的贫困村。而如今袁家村成立了农工贸为一体的集团型企业袁家农工商联合总公司，下辖12个子公司，在西安有房地产公司。特别值得一提的是，袁家村的管理照样是社会主义的"大锅饭"。一切事宜都是由村委会带领大家去操办，甚至村民娶媳妇都必须经过领导审批。据说，袁家村小伙子谈对象的第一要求已经由原来的大专升为大学本科。这一点足以表明袁家村领导者的远见卓识。

对于坚信自由巿场经济的同学们来说，这是不是很不可思议呢？那么到底是什么造成了他们的成功呢？去年在我脑海里出现的这些问题便是今年学生们的研究课题！说做就做！

I didn’t plan it this way, but how lucky we are. It is Duanwu Festival. We got invited by the village head , Mr. Wang, to participate in their activities and tasted honey flavored zongzi.

真巧，来西安第一天就是端午节，正赶袁家村做活到。村长亲自欢迎学生，请他们免费品尝美味的蜂蜜凉粽子。还请他们动手学包粽子。

Other than the research project, students are also taking some cultural lessons ，such as kongfu tea, Chinese paiting, Caligraphy, Taiqi,etc., to learn the Chinese culture and understand how cultrue affects business practices in China. One of the lessons is gongfu tea. They are learning the chinese tea culture as it becomes an important component in the business cultrue in China. 

The gongfu tea ceremony or kung fu tea ceremony is a kind of Chinese tea ceremony, involving the ritual preparation and presentation of tea. The term literally means "making tea with skill". Today, the approach is used popularly by teashops carrying tea of Chinese origins, and by tea connoisseurs as a way to maximize the taste of a tea selection, especially a finer one.

千辛万苦把他们带到中国，可不是单纯来旅游的。他们是来学习中国文化的，除了要学简单的汉语，学生们也要学一些文化课，比如茶艺，中国画，太极拳，书法等。今天上茶艺课，学茶艺不仅是因为好玩有趣，更重要的是他已成为商业文化的一部分。茶艺，又叫功夫茶，顾名思义，是一种有技巧地准备冲泡方法。感谢老师详细地讲解了茶知识，从产地，气候，品种，到温壶洗茶，公道……受益匪浅！

Everyone got a chance to practice! It is fun to watch them making the tea!

每人都有机会试着冲泡一款茶。看着他们不太熟练的动作，好笑又很欣慰。愿意学习不同的文化会对他们终身有益的。

Another cultrual lesson is Taiji, pronounced as Tai Ji, short for Tai ji quan. It is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training, its health benefits and meditation. The term taiji refers to a philosophy of the forces of yin and yang, related to the moves. Though originally conceived as a martial art, it is also typically practiced for a variety of other personal reasons: competitive wrestling in the format of pushing hands (tui shou), demonstration competitions and achieving greater longevity. 

除了功夫茶，学生们还尝试学了太极拳。太极拳被越来越多的人当做一种健身运动。但是它的主要拳法其实也反映了中国人的处事哲学。以柔克刚，阴阳相济。从某种角度来理解，所谓太极拳，就是修正偏执心态和身姿，用顺其自然的姿势演绎的拳术运动。

Continue with the Chinese Cultural lessons-Chinese Calligraphy. There is no way that one can master Chinese calligraphy within a day. However, to provide the students an opportunity to just hold the brush, feel the power of the different strokes, and understand the richness of the Chinese characters are my real goals of this activity....

继续中国文化课的学习。中国的书法，岂是一天两天可以参悟的。但是能有幸握一下毛笔，感受一下横竖撇捺的魅力，了解一下中国文字是怎样的的简约精悍而又极其的含蓄丰富，便达到我的目的了……

Students are also taking a lesson on Chinese painting, one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world. My goal for them to learn painting is not for painting per se.  Paiting is all about asthetic, designing, collor usage which are all important components for product designing, packaging and marketing.Painting in the traditional style is known today in Chinese as guóhuà, meaning "national" or "native painting", as opposed to Western styles of art which became popular in China in the 20th century. Traditional painting involves essentially the same techniques as calligraphy and is done with a brush dipped in black ink or coloured pigments; oils are not used. As with calligraphy, the most popular materials on which paintings are made are paper and silk. The finished work can be mounted on scrolls, such as hanging scrolls or handscrolls. Traditional painting can also be done on album sheets, walls, lacquerware, folding screens, and other media.

中国画，也不是那么好学的，但是通过学习色彩的搭配和运用，同学们可以了解一下中国人的审美观，这些何尝对于学习商业的学生来说，是何等重要，因为它直接影响到商品的设计，包装及营销！

Other than these cultrual lessons , students have a lot of opprtunities to learn the history and cultrue throgh siteseeing. One nicest place we visited is Guanzhong Grand view garden: where we had an overview of the history, culture and customs of the Guanzhong region.

除了上语言文化课，我们有大量参观访问的机会。今天来到观中大观园：总体了解一下观中地区的历史，文化，和风土人情。

For International business students to learn the IB history,there is no better place than DaTang West Market Meseum. Da Tang West Market Museum is the first civilian on-site museum in China, established on the site of the West market of the Tang chang’an city.The Tang West Market Museum is an important cultural and tourism project of Xi’an municipal which enables the visitors to know about silk and the commercial culture of Sui and Tang dynasty. It is also an important place for people to study, communicate, and collect information, while at the same time, it provides an opportunity for social education and a better understanding of the ancient capital’s profound history and extensive civilization.

The basic exhibition “start of the Silk Road” of the Museum, extracted from the site of the “cross Street” at northeast of Tang West Market, displays some cultural relics unearthed from this site and introduces the various trade categories which exhibit the cultural and economic prosperity as an outcome of these trading categories.

对于国际商务的大学生来说，没有比大唐西市博物馆更好的地方了。大唐西市博物馆位于陕西省西安市莲湖区劳动南路118号，是以反映丝绸之路文化和商业文化为主题的民营遗址类博物馆。大唐西市博物馆的陈列分为基本陈列、专题展览、临时展览、特别展览，艺术空间五个部分，基本陈列《丝路起点盛世商魂》展出了唐代西市东北“十字街”遗址、车辙遗迹和部分出土文物，介绍了历史上西市作为丝路起点的重要地位、交易品类、商业文化和繁华胜景；专题展览《丝绸之路“百工”体验》演绎了几种古代丝绸之路上的传统工艺制作过程；临时展览是一个文化交流与展示的场所，展示丝路文化与古代商业文化；特别展览《精品选粹》、《贞石千秋-大唐西市博物馆珍藏墓志展》

The museum Has a collection of more than 20,000 pieces comprises of various cultural relics, and mainly exhibits the cultural relics extracted from the archaeological site of the West Market and also includes other meticulously collected treasures by the founder of the museum. The relics displayed cover a long period of history, of about 3000 years, ranging from the Shang and Zhou dynasties to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The collection includes exquisite and mysterious bronze ware, splendid and colorful pottery ware, rich postures of terra-cotta figurines, brilliant gold and silver wares, gorgeous and delicate silk remains, and jade pieces of wonderful workmanship, as well as a great number of relics such as currency, Epitaph, religious and architectures; these fill the spacious museum and afford precedence to magnificent exhibitions.

馆藏文物2万余件，以西市遗址出土文物和博物馆创办人20多年来收藏的文物为主，上起商周，下至明清。大唐西市博物馆先后被评为国家4A级旅游景区、文化产业示范基地，国家一级博物馆。

How cool it is for international business students to take a picture right at the starting piont of the “silk road” in Asia.

在丝绸之路的起点来一张合影，对于学习国际商务的学生是很有意义的！

Natural environment is also a very important factor for business interactions. Thanks to the organizors, hiking is aadded back to the program. This time, we went to climb Cuihua mounain, which is popular among Chinese people for beautiful natural scenery and being suit for hiking. As a branch of Qinling Mountain Ranges, it locates 23 km south to downtown Xian with an altitude of 2132 meters. It is regarded as an ideal summer resort for local people.When hiking in the mountain one may meet the Taiyi Palace and Cuiwei Palace, which were the worshiping and amusement spot for emperors and officials in ancient times. In 1992 the mountain got the name Zhongnanshan National Forest Park. And nowadays the mountain is listed as one of the top 10 tourist attractions in Xian.

中国的大好河山，一定要让孩子们去领略一下。这次去的是翠华山，原名太乙山，景区由碧山湖景区、天池景区和山崩石海景区3部分组成。传说有太乙真人在此修炼过，由此得名。翠华山旅游景区位于西安城南20公里处秦岭北麓，景区面积32平方公里。2002年被国家旅游局评为“AAAA级旅游景区”；2009年被联合国教科文组织评为“秦岭终南山世界地质公园”。

Hiking on cuihua mountain is such a grest experience. It feels so good when we walk through the Wind Cave and Ice Cave. The Wind Cave and Ice Cave are two highlights of the Cuihua Mountain Scenic Area. Actually they are not natural caves, but very narrow gaps formed by the sea of collapsed stone. At the narrowest points, you even need to bend your back to go through the gaps. Without sunshine nearly the whole year, the Wind Cave can provide you with a comfortable, cool space on hot days. The Ice Cave is cold even in hot summer. The temperature difference between the cave and outside can reach 23℃ (73℉) in summer, and ice doesn’t melt in the cave.

翠华山，真是个绝对好的选择……山上气温比较低，尤其是在过冰洞和风洞时，好冷哦……

The Terracotta Army in Xi'an, is also called Terracotta Warriors and Horses. It is the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Terracotta Army is a super large collection of life-size terra cotta sculptures in battle formations, reproducing the mega imperial guard troops of Emperor Qin Shi Huang (259 - 210BC), the first emperor of the first unified dynasty of Imperial China.It is no doubt a must-see for every visitor to Xi'an.

来到西安，必须要去看兵马俑。位于秦始皇陵封土以东约955.5米处，普遍认为兵马俑位于秦始皇陵的外围，有戍卫陵寝的含义，是秦始皇陵墓有机组成部分。1987年，秦始皇陵墓及兵马俑坑被联合国教科文组织列入《世界遗产名录》。

After we completed the program in Xi’an, we went to our next stop: Beijing. In order to let students experience the advanced tranprtation technology in China, I let them experice the High-speed rail (HSR). It is a type of rail transport that operates significantly faster than traditional rail traffic, using an integrated system of specialized rolling stock and dedicated tracks. While there is no single standard that applies worldwide, new lines in excess of 250 kilometres per hour (160 mph) and existing lines in excess of 200 kilometres per hour (120 mph) are widely considered to be high-speed.

西安项目顺利完成。下一站就是北京了。由于高铁把中国人民的生活水平提到了一个新的高度。学生们有必要体验一下！所以，我让他们坐高铁进京，体验一下中国的交通水平……

It was such a nice day to visit The Olympic Park. It is Located in Chaoyang District, Beijing, China constructed for the 2008 Summer Olympics. Since then, the streets around the park have been used for an exhibition street race of the FIA GT1 World Championship in 2011, after a race at Goldenport Park Circuit in the vicinity. It will again serve as an Olympic Park when Beijing hosts the 2022 Winter Olympics.

来北京必看的还有鸟巢和水立方！这些建筑都是为2008年北京奥运会建造的。目前多用于展览。不过2020年冬季奥运会也会在这里举行。非常期待！

I always encourage students to experince McDonalds and KFC in China and ask them to observe the differences with the ones in the States.

我总是让学生在麦当劳或肯德基尝试一下。让他们感受一下他们在不同文化背景中的不同运营方式。

Xi’an is absolutely the best place to go for food! It is the heaven for Chihuo:)

By the end of the program, students presented their research projects! They did an amazing job!!! I am very proud of what they managed to do during such a short peroid of time.

短短两周时间，学生们调研结束，汇报宣读了他们的研究成果！那一刻，我内心充满感动！

They learned so much during this fast track program. They did not only learn some cultral lessons but also learned how to adjust themselves in order survive in a totally foreign enviroment. Some of them learned the lesson a hard way. But all turned out to be good. All become unforgettable memories and valuable experiences!

结业了，短短的两个星期，他们经历了很多事情，西安的历史文化使他们更加热爱中国，其中三位已经决定明年再来。

Thanks to director Zhu and Ms. Liu for their hospitality and all the hard work to make the program run smoothly and complete succussfully. Thanks to all the cultrual lesson teachers’ for the knowlege they shared with the students.

感谢朱主任和他强有力的团队。感谢美君老师，自始至终的精心安排与协调。朱主任为了我们的结业典礼，专程从杭州会议上提前赶回来，给今年的项目画上一个完美的句号！更要感谢每一位任课老师的精心准备和辛苦付出。三年来，收获颇丰！感动满满！
